Decent price for the menu decouverte. From veal carpaccio to revisited tomatoes & burrata to monkfish, gambas, pigeon the Chef is an expert and would deserve a second star. The service is friendly, smily and efficient. Nice presentation of the plates! Bravo Chef Taffard!

Rather of the beaten track near the Cathedral, Les Filets Bleu is very popular with local residents. Beautifully presented food that tastes delicious. Not cheap but definitely one up on the tourist restaurants on the sea front and well worth the price. Are sure you book, not open on Sunday pm or Mondays.

Great discovery.... this Restaurant is incredibly close to my favorite beach on the Cote Sauvage. Easy parking, easy access to beach and great food!!
We had a delicious home made soupe de poisson and excellent oysters to start followed by a divine fricassée of scallops in a champagne sauce, one garnished with crunchy (rare in France) seasonal vegetables and the other with a mushroom risotto.
We ended with a lemon sorbet and vodka delight and the most fabulous Moelleux au citron which just oozed out perfectly. All truly delicious and beautifully presented.
We also found a great Charentais white wine from Segonzac... very impressive.
Really looking forward to coming back again and don't hesitate to recommend.
It's a little bit pricey but worth it

Years after years we are back!
It's always a pleasure to dine at Les Agapes.
If I could take a sentence I found in a restaurant in Mykonos: "Great food is like great sex. The more you have the more you want".
Great restaurant. Food cooked to the perfection. Good wine list, well priced. The only minus: (if none, the review might be biased) the plastic chairs on the Terrace. But honestly, who cares? Everything else is perfect! See you next year!

According to the reviews, and by French standards in general, we were rather disappointed. Had the menu découverte, with the foie gras rather bland and not with a good texture, then the beef cheek (good, but not outstanding) and the cheese platter (only good as well). Service was mixed. With the cheese, they had raisins and nuts, but we were not offered them?!
Out of 3 dinners in Southwestern France, it was the poorest. In Royan, which probably does not have a lot to offer, it was OK though.

This is a very unusual place, located in the middle of an industrial estate and housed in what looks like an industrial unit, but what it lacks in location it more than makes up for in the quality of the food and the service. I had the 'assiette de boucher' which comprised a large entrecote and a large brochette of rump streak served with home made fries and a sauce of your choice. As the main dish was so large we didn't have room for dessert, but what we saw being served looked very tempting. Our main course cost €16.50 but most people seemed to be eating off the €14.50 three course menu, which had plenty of choice and included a starter buffet. Towards the end of the lunch period the chef (and I believe the owner) came and spoke to all the diners - a nice touch, he also served some of the late-comers. The restaurant is only open for lunch. So if you're looking for place for a romantic lunch in beautiful surrounding don't come here, but if your hungry and appreciate good food well served at very reasonable prices, La Gargote will take some beating

We visited for a drink whilst on holiday. From outside, the impression is of a great bar and fooderie. We would have liked to have had lunch their but it was mainly a creperie and ice cream venue. Even some galettes/ sandwiches would be good.

Lovely setting and service was good. The food was incredible. Some of the nicest starters I have ever had (we shared the prawns and the salmon). Really good flavours and great accompaniments. The mustard vinaigrette and salad was delicious. We shared the duck and a white fish for mains. They are happy to recommend if you are not sure. The set menu is around €25 and you get a starter, main and desert. We had the chocolate gateaux and profiterole base with 2 scoops of ice cream for desert. Well worth a trip, you won't be disappointed.

Everything about our dinner was superb. The food was delicious, the service friendly and faultless, the air conditioning worked well.
St Palais was suffering from a plague of mossies and flying ants, but not in this restaurant as the rooms had been sprayed just prior to opening.
Very very good.

While on holiday with family we were searching for some lunch and I passed this sushi shop. I decided to try it and assumed there would be ready made sushi on the counter.
The man working in the shop spoke good English and informed me it was made fresh to order and he does not normally serve passing trade.
He agreed to make me a limited selection within 10 minutes. He really wanted to help me and made me feel very welcome.
I would recommend to anyone who loves sushi as he had the freshest and a good menu. I will return on my next visit.
