Walking is a way of life in the picturesque Cornwall town of Padstow. The South West Coast Path—which, at 630 miles, is Britain’s longest footpath—stretches along the coast and, via ferry, across the River Carmel. The former fishing port is today a hub of fine wining and dining. Lose yourself in the Lost Gardens of Heligan, a fairyland of heirloom flowers, or go back to the future at the Eden Project, a horticultural wonderland housed inside dramatic biodomes.

Did you know? Despite not being an Indian restaurant, The Journeyman was recently shortlisted at the British Curry Awards and voted in The Independent Newspaper's survey of the top 50 restaurants to eat curry in the UK! Our location on the historic Saint's Way in the picturesque hamlet of Mellingey is a short 5 minute drive from either Padstow or Wadebridge & only 1/2 mile from St Issey. We have a large, free car park on site. We're ideally placed for that special night out, a family occasion, or just a chilled evening with friends. Enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of our restaurant's mill dining room on long summer evenings or cosy autumn nights. The Journeyman's extensive menu offers something for everyone with over 40 dishes selected from the world's finest cuisines.
This restaurant can compare with any good Indian Restaurant outside the best in London. The spicing and flavours are great and everything is cooked fresh. The service was
welcoming and helpful.I had the Nepalese lamb with garlic and ginger which was rich, tasty and flavoursome.I recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys a good curry. The choice of ales, beers, cinders and wines were extensive and reasonably priced. Give the best a try.

Opened by Rick Stein and Jill Stein in 1975, The Seafood Restaurant in Padstow is famous for establishing an international reputation for the very freshest fish and shellfish, often landed on our doorstep. Head chef, Stephane Delourme and his team create simple seafood dishes with classic flavours using Rick's recipes. We have a seafood bar right in the middle of the restaurant where you can watch chefs assembling platters of oysters, langoustines and sashimi. No Reservations are required for the bar and you can order anything from the a la carte menu.
After a cocktail at Ruby’s Bar and a short run in the rain we received a warm welcome at the reception, we were shown straight to our table it’s quite a large restaurant but still cosy and comfortable. We were asked if we had any questions about the menu and after asking about the heat of the chilli in the crab the dish was perfectly explained to me warning that it was messy and large. We had the seafood soup and the coconut prawns to start they were both excellent. I chose to accept the challenge of the crab which was delicious it was messy and slippery and huge, finger bowls were provided and changed when needed, it still makes me smile to think about it now. The sea bass wrapped in a banana leaf was also excellent. Chocolate fondant followed by coffee and chocolates to finish. We had Camel Valley sparkling rose to accompany the meal and a sparkling red with the dessert. Overall it was fantastic the young team of servers did a great job. Also talking to people in the town they have a great fondness for Rick Stein for breathing life into Padstow and by providing jobs.

binTwo is an Independent Wine Merchant and Champagne Bar nestled just yards from the buzzy and beautiful quayside in Padstow, North Cornwall. We welcome our customers to enjoy some of the finest coffee in town all lovingly prepared by our shockingly good baristas. Or how about and aperitif before indulging in Padstow's finest fare? We have an enviable range of handpicked wines available by the glass throughout the day, or for a small corkage charge you can choose any bottle from the shop and sip it out on our Terrace (Blankets provided!). Or some bubbles perhaps? A firm favourite of the team, try a glass of Billecart-Salmon Brut or Brut Rosé. For the cooler months we resign the Pimms to the top shelf and serve up warming mulled wine and brandy hot chocolates. We look forward to seeing you all..
Cannot believe in all our years of visiting Padstow we had never visited here before! However once found we could not stay away.Excellent choice of Champagne and Wine. David was a font of knowledge, and other staff were kind, attentive and pleasant. We sat and watched the world go by with cosy blankets and champagne along with a few tasty nibbles outside, and enjoyed the warm ambience inside with other visitors.Definately our new favourite place to hang out.Thank you!

We went for dinner this evening for our wedding anniversary. We booked in advance and asked for a cosy table for 2 outside. We were seated on a very cold evening right by the heater in the outside covered area and were happy with that. I so wanted to give a 5 star review and there were a couple of small things that stopped me from giving this but first to the positives. The food we had was fabulous. We eat out a lot and love fish but are so often disappointed but not here. We loved everything we ate and it was all cooked perfectly. Crab bisque, tomato arancini, hake and sea bream were fabulous. I’d mentioned when booking it was our anniversary and they remembered that too when I had a dessert. A couple of things that let it down. For the price charged we would have expected to be asked to taste the wine and have it poured and when my husband asked for extra bread and be told it was coming and for it not to appear (you weren’t that busy) was disappointing. Our waitress was charming and attentive but maybe your training doesn’t include offering the wine to be tasted or pouring it? Please do not be put off by these small points because with the food being so good we will be back overall we had a lovely evening. Thank you

The Olive Tree in St Merryn opens for dinner from Tuesday to Saturday from 6.30pm). Our food is largely influenced by Mediterranean cuisine and, indeed, anywhere you might find olive trees growing. We focus on making the most of the wonderful fresh produce available in Cornwall, and we source our fish, meat, dairy and most of our fruit & vegetables from local producers. Reservations are recommended, and please let us know in advance if you have any special dietary requirements. Please note that the restaurant opens in March through to December - please contact us for specific dates.
4 very happy customers. All starters, mains and Deserts were spot on. Service relaxed, friendly and very attentive, with just the right waiting time between courses. Our first visit here, but definitely won’t be our last. Looking forward to it reopening in March 2018.
One minor point is I thought the lights were a bit bright and should be dimmed a little, otherwise faultless.

The (tiny) tea garden is at the back of the two hundred year old 'Coastguard Houses' at Hawkers Cove, on the Coastal Path, 150m from the slipway at Hawkers Cove beach and enjoys fantastic views across the Doom Bar and mouth of the Camel Estuary, to Polzeath and Daymer Bay. We serve hot and cold drinks, homemade cakes, quiches and pies, homemade soups, filled jacket potatoes, made to order sandwiches, cream teas, ice creams and various snacks.(Our cream teas and our crab sandwiches are getting rave reviews). For anyone who is Coeliac, we have also added a Gluten Free Flapjack to our homemade products, which include Gluten Free Scones (of course), Gluten Free Lemon Drizzle Cake and Gluten Free Ginger Cake. We are stocking Gluten Free Bread, for sandwiches and Gluten Free Bread Rolls to compliment our Gluten Free homemade soups. We are 'Dog Friendly', welcoming well behaved pooches with a fresh bowl of water and biscuits. The tea garden is, literally, a garden, with no inside Seating and is consequently very 'weather dependent' so if the weather is at all 'unsettled', we would advise that you phone ahead to make sure that we are open. The tea garden will be open 7 days a week (weather permitting) from Easter to October. Unfortunately we don't have any parking facilities, so if you wish to drive to us, we suggest that you park in the farmer's car park and walk along the coast path, or park anywhere on the road to Hawkers Cove and walk down the hill, (approx 500m). The tea garden is situated behind the top row of houses. We accept most Credit/Debit Cards. Please come and see us.... You will be made most welcome! Please note that during October we are open from 11.00am to 3.00pm
Loved this place, far from the Padstow crowds. A good lunch/tea stop on a fabulous walk is such a rare find, and this is it.Thanks for your lovely review. Our crab sandwiches and our cream teas are both getting rave reviews, so either would have been a good choice..... both would have been a better choice. Please spread the word and come back soon.

We had dinner here during a recent stay in Padstow, having had two good meals on previous visits. Food was just okay this time. Fish and chips a bit greasy and burger average. The person who brought out the food for us and other diners went to and fro to the kitchen rather than bringing out the mains and sides together . A tray might have saved her some effort and delivered all the ordered food at the same time. When I asked about our side dishes, I was told 'I can't carry it all at once' in quite an abrupt manner. We decided not to go back for a second meal as we had originally intended.
