We had dinner here whilst waiting for the night boat to Portsmouth. Unpretentious from the outside and with 2 different areas, the 1st with pink Seating and the 2nd with natural stone. Very helpful and attentive staff. Sufficient A La Carte choice and 3 set menus, all of which appealed. Good French cuisine with a modern twist. I initially thought the portions small but felt full when we finished. Wine list was good and reasonable. A little back from the main tourist area near to Salle de fete. Apparently the name may refer to the "Stupid Farmer", wonder why? Would go again without hesitation.

We thought we would visit Le Vauban having read good reviews and we were very impressed. Friendly attentive staff and a wide ranging menu on offer. The food was excellent and the restaurant atmosphere was good. We definitely plan to go back!

Recently had lunch here while on a cruise stop over, we checked out the best seafood restaurant on trip advisor and headed straight for this place, I had snails to start followed by fruits du mer and wasn't disappointed, the food was extremely fresh, excellent and probably the best Oysters I have had, the service was good and prices were very reasonable compared to some places in the UK. If you love seafood and are in Cherbourg you have to visit this place.

After a great day exploring the Cherbourg peninsular we were a little late in finding somewhere to eat, however the Au Saint Michel was only a short distance from the hotel and still accepting patrons at 21:00.
The restaurant is small and homely with an open dining room on the ground floor. The menu places an emphasis on sweet and savoury crepes although there are a few meat dishes offered from the grill including Steak. We opted for the savoury crepes having had a fantastic steak the night before.
The crepes were absolutely delicious, I was very tempted to have another but I opted for one of the delicious Deserts instead.
If you want a simple, homely meal in pleasant surroundings served by friendly staff (who do speak English) then Au Saint Michel is highly recommended.

Our last night in Cherbourg and on a recommendation, we visited Faitout. Warm welcome followed by attentive friendly service and fantastic food. I could not fault anything. All really tasty and beautifully presented. Special - Trio Hommages de la mer, was excellent and fabulous Mille fieulle desert with fruits and raspberry sorbet...fabulous. The staff were friendly and very helpful without being fussy.
Don't be put off by the location. It's a great restaurant indeed!!

Four of us were pleased to book at short notice - thank you Corinne. We chose to sit upstairs: another time we'd probably stay downstairs, where you can see the meat being cooked. Great steaks, excellent side dishes, and a huge quantity of cheese to follow - top tip: get one plate of cheese per two people. The house red wine, a Merlot, very drinkable. With drinks and a tip, well under £25 each.

A great hidden treasure! Our cruise ship stopped in Cherbourg, and we had dinner at Le Pily, having booked via email about a month in advance. The entire meal was fabulous, and the price quite reasonable. Each course was remarkable, the staff friendly, and service exemplary. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Le Pily to friends.

A small unassuming restaurant off the square near the fish market. If it had not been recommended we would have walked past! You need to reserve a table or you probably won't get in. Great crepes, lovely substantial salads and great ice creams too. Frequented by many locals not just tourists. A good sign!

For apero we had the cocktail maison wich was good and sweet. We've chosen the duck with mushrooms and the veal sweet spicy. It was delicious. The veal could be more spicy for my taste.
For dessert there was the cheesecake with caramelised banana (wich was to die for)
In total the bill was 43€ (not so expensive )
The host was extremely friendly and charming.
It's a place to discover when you're visiting Cherbourgh

Recommended to us by the Marina - otherwise would not have found it. Down a side street with no other restaurants seemingly around.
Small intimate restaurant run by two lovely guys
Everything cooked perfectly on the small fire that is part of the restaurant. Pork for me; veal kidneys for my husband.
Lovely little appetisers first.
Pricing mid range.
Would recommend.
