THOUGHTS OF THE TUMBLEWEEDS TRAVELLER....
For a Westerner to understand how China has become a global giant you must understand the power of one man - Dr Sun Yat Sen. He was responsible for bringing almost 400 million people together under one national government system. Dr Sun Yat-sen was the the first president and founding father of the Republic of China. Born in China he was a USA educated physician, writer and philosopher.
The Sun Yat Sen's Residence Memorial Museum is a must visit! This museum is rarely visited by western travellers. For the Chinese traveller it is a must do! The historical displays are extraordinary.

Pedestrian street, where you can find a free and interesting city museum (including English version...) and have a walk - not a quite one - as the street is always very busy especially at night and weekends receiving the families. Don't expect to find good bargains...

Literally if you want to cover all this park you can lose that extra five pounds that's been stubbornly hanging on ! It's pretty large and meanders around and around with some steeper inclines so wear some good shoes. The memorial is a great vantage point to shoot pictures of the cityscape and there are some pretty cool rocks ( the Chinese love rocks with good "shape") and a view point in the back of the park ( south end ) that has a man made waterfall and flows and you can wend your way up the hillside past ( and through ) this until you get lost in the woods. I had a good time just wandering around and hearing the occasional "hello" from the Chinese teens clustered around.

Chinese Spring Spas are something everyone must experiance at least once in their lifetime. Soak in the warm Springs get a massage or sleep in oversized lounge chairs watching TV. A great day for the family at little cost, Even better at night on those hot Zhongshan evenings.

This is where you will find the GD Greenway, a China bicycle path network that covers all of southern China. There a -loads- of bike rental shops at the entrance. You can rent a very nice mountain or other style bike, including for the kids, for just a few $$$USD for a half a day. The ride around the Reservoir takes 2-3 hours, has lots of stopping points and is good fun. The GD Greenway is relatively new and is gorgeous. The bike paths are asphalt and are new and well-marked and well-maintained, there are restrooms along the way and lots of things to see. The route can be a bit challenging as it's a bit hilly, but none of us had any problem with it. My only complaint is that we wanted to do a lot more riding but it only took a few hours to go around, and that included stopping, taking photos, etc.

If you come Monday through Friday, you'll wonder why there is such a large green space going to waste with no one there to enjoy it. And then if you come on a Saturday or Sunday, you will see this place filled with thousands of locals enjoying their time off in the Sunshine and understand. There are walking paths, paddle boats, giant green spaces to run or picnic or even "sled." There is also a zoo but we've never been and have been told by friends who have lived here longer that it's not a happy place. Great fun for exercise or people watching.

A beautiful park alongside the Qijiang river where you can take a boat cruise, or relax at Starbucks (at Sheraton Hotel) sipping on a coffee and admiring the view. The old Yuezhong shipyard forms part of the park with an old lighthouse and other dockyard fixtures till in tack - all in all a peaceful yet historical place to visit and well maintained by the Zhongshan Garden Administration.

The Hot Spring resort was very good and I would highly recommed it to others.
The spas varied in size- some were small while others were big- each had a different with fragnance and had hot spring water which was quite refreshing.
The major drawback was the food- we got 4 buffets- lunch, dinner, breakfast and lunch again next day. but for every meal we got the SAME items.....and the food was not tasty at all.
There was a shopping mall close by that had the famous supermarket so we managed to get good food. In fact there was KFC and other food joints.
We went to a strawbery farm while going and on return we went to see the famous Sun Yat Sen's house that's been converted on to a museum so that people can have a glimpse of his lifestyle.
Overall, the trip was amazing!!!!!!
