China’s third-largest city is the capital of Guangdong Province and a thriving commercial center. Its location on the Pearl River and proximity to Hong Kong has made Guangzhou a strategic port for centuries. Glimpse old temples and gleaming steel towers on an architectural tour. Visit one of four Chimelong theme parks for thrills and chills. Once called Canton, Guangzhou is considered the home of traditional (read Cantonese) “Chinese food.” Foodies will find more restaurants per capita here than anywhere else in China.

Wine and dine with gusto on our authentic Italian specialties, surrounded by unrivaled panoramic views of the city’s skyline from atop the hotel.
Every year , we travel to Italy twice for business or leisure since 2001. We love Italian food, so we are always looking for good Italian restaurant, however, to be honest , we can’t find a real good Italian restaurant in HK or Guangzhou. Some Italian restaurant is extremely expensive in HK, but their taste is far from good.
We always travel to Guangzhou, this time , we went to our friends ‘wedding in Westin Hotel, so we stayed one night. Therefore, we have chance to go to Prego.
At the beginning, I was worried, as I have never try a real good Western restaurant in China, especially Italian. Most of them are localized, ie, the risotto cooked like steam rice, pasta cooked like wonton noddles...etc
However, when I saw and tasted the bread, I know this one might be good. As many people know, the bread of the Italian restaurant is very important, you will know their chef and their food. The portion is big enough.
This restaurant really taste like an Italian restaurant... service was friendly and nice.
I have heard from the waitress that their chef is an Italian chef and insists in keeping the real Italian taste.
However , the price is s bit too high.
If you are looking for REAL ITALIAN TASTE, this is the restaurant you will like to go.

Before 2006 it was extremely difficult for people traveling to Guangzhou to find reliable western restaurants, let alone Italian restaurants. This gave us the idea to create Buongiorno, that we opened in August of 2006. It was a huge success from the very beginning. Since the early start we have been very dedicated to bring authentic Italian flavours to the heart of China, attracting the interest of local and foreign clientele. We are driven by passion and guided by tradition. Our dishes are prepared with the highest quality ingredients and a fine balance of flavors; we strive hard for excellent taste and to serve you authentic italian cuisine. Our Executive Chef Massimo Canzian personally sources and grades our top-quality imports from Italy and works along our staff, who is constantly trained and very knowledgeable about Italian food and wine. We are here to warmly welcome you and deliver a memorable, rich experience each and every time you visit.
I visted Buongiorno 1st time for Lunch.
Normally when I visit Italian restaurant at 1st time, I order simple Pasta (Spaghetti Pomodoro) to evaluate quality.
Here Buongiorno offers really good & tasty Pasta.
Boiling condition is very good as al dente.
I tried many Italian restaurant in GZ, but it is not easy to find
good boiling condition. Generally too boild in China.
And pomodoro soure is good balance and fresh.
It's not too sourness, not too sweet.
I just took pasta and bruschetta this timr for lunch,
so I want to try the other dishes next time.
They speak in English and servise is good enough.
Atmosphere is clean and good sense.
One of my best Italian in GZ.

Orient Express is a french restaurant under french management. The cuisine is real and authentic French and is not an approximate interpretation as it is often the case in China at “western”, “French” or “Italian” restaurants. It is located on the beautiful Shamian island in the center of Guangzhou. The restaurant has a large beautiful garden for outdoor dining. It also has a main dining room and two train wagons in the garden for romantic dining. It serves authentic French food for all budgets. The French cuisine combines traditional and authentic flavors with modern and original designs of the dishes. You will indulge yourself with:bourgogne snails,pan-fried goose liver with strawberries, fish tartare marinated and its red tuna sashimi, two kinds of fish carpaccio and its salmon cream,pan-fried scallops and black rice and asparagus,pan-fried sea food, grilled australien beef filet mignon with red pepper “crème brûlé” and crumble, grilled new Zealand lamp chops with houmous, babajanouj and roast vegetables, the traditional French bourguignon beef, french “Confit” style duck leg…It is a place visited by Chinese clients who are looking for an authentic French cuisine experience and come for birthdays, to ask their girl friend to marry, a special business meal or simply with the family. Many foreign business people as well as expatriate foreigners living in Guangzhou are regular clients.L’Orient express est un restaurant de cuisine et de gestion française.
I have been there by myself and after scanning the menu with beautiful pictures and above beautiful prices i decided to go for their set menu. Pumpkin soup as starter which was watery and i left it after a few sips. Very dry old bread. The spaghetti as main course were very weel done thats why I give 3 points to this review. The staff was eating at the next tables something out of silver bowls which reminded me about my Labrador. The atmosphere was ruined. The dessert was tastless but supersweet and could have been from the seven eleven nearby. The service was below chinese standards. I left without a single yuen tip with the intention to never return. The total bill was 148 Yuen and with even a lot of goodwill was absolutley not worth it. It seams the restaurant had great days in the past but something must have changed.

Seasonal Tastes is our sophisticated yet low-key, second-floor dining venue. Open all day, we prepare enticing international offerings and SuperFoodsRx™ with fresh and seasonal ingredients, for delicious options to tempt any palate.
The Seasonal tastes restaurant is located on 2nd floor of the Westin Guangzhou Hotel. It is also the breakfast restaurant for the Westin hotel guests and may be crowded for breakfast time. The buffets for lunch and dinner were very good with tasty and fresh food at reasonable prices. Both asian and european style food was on offer. The Restaurant also had special dinners like Seafood Dinner.
Atmosphere was good and service flawless.

Our casual yet elegant Chinese restaurant, located on the 4th floor, offers a range of traditional Cantonese cuisine prepared in a modern fashion and popular regional dishes with the freshest ingredients.
Had all you can eat lunch at CNY139. Food is not bad, but a bit higher than mandarin oriental, which is far better. Service is ok, but one of the waitress has very very bad body odour. The smell could be felt as she walked pass. I had told her to stay away or get some deodorant. After complaining to the manager many times, they decided to move her to the kitchen, but the damage has been done, and she destroyed my lunch!
Strangely, the hotel refuse to make reservation for the restaurant on behalf of guests, they insisted I make the reservation directly with the restaurant. I'm not sure if the hotel actually runs the restaurant.

Hi Friends,
While being in Guangzhou and exploring different Vegetarin resturants I came across Ashoka and went for a dinner out there.
Based on the reviews I expected a typical North Indian / Punjabi taste food over here. As soon as you enter the place you get a feel of same based on the Aroma and crowd over here.
The place is little small and hence becomes noisy and appears crowded too. The staff is decent and ambience is average, but being in China and being an Indian or Vegetarian it should not be of that importance.
Now talking about food:
We had a vegetarian meal and he food was good, though not relishing as expected but if course good.
But to be very frank it is very heavily priced.
And if compared to Kohinoor it is almost Double while consudering that Kohinoor is a small place but food equally good.
Even if you compare to Sharma ji you will feel this like almost double.
Also, this is the only Indian Restaurant Which charges 10% SERVICE CHARGE extra on Menu price.
A meal for Two should cost you around 250RMB a Vegetable, Rotis, Rice or Pulav and Papad.
