Our guide Jorge was fantastic, full of energy and his tour was incredibly informative. He exudes passion for the land and history of Puerto Rico that was so infectious that this second-generation stateside Puerto Rican is seriously thinking of moving to the island. Really great...MoreThanks Areliz for you kind words and specially for your visit, this Post-Maria low season trauma only can be overcome with the support of all the visitor like you that make our work posible. More than happy to receive you in Batey Adventures... Jorge

Fernando runs a first class operation. We had a great time rappelling, tubing the cave, & hanging out with Fernando. The tranquility of the area is unreal. Bats, crickets, lizards, fruit, & shaved ice. Paradise. My blood pressure probably dropped 20 points just floating away. Bring a backpack for drinks. There are places to keep it dry.
I previously submitted a review that for some reason the star rating kept coming back as terrible. The trip advisor app was glitching out. I was finally able to delete that review but had to wait 30 days to resubmit. This place is so "must do" that here I am 30 days later resubmitting.

Coffee plantation, beneficiado (wet mill) and roasting house, for more than 45 years in our family, we do tours from the coffee tree to the cup. Free of cost, you will learn and live the moment on how a family works with a high grade coffee and taste the wonderfull cup a true Puertorrican coffee is. You will enjoy it!.
We've visited many Coffee farms across Puerto Rico, a very limited number of sites can detail and demonstrate all the steps that surrounds the coffee experience at it heights!.
Gran Batey is a family owned Farm perfectly set and presented by their owners, Bernardo and Loty, we reached the Farm site after 1.5 hr driving time from San Juan. Don Bernardo explained the process with enthusiasm while Loty was able to roast some coffee at the time, IT was SUPERB!!.
There is no cover charge for entrance, they offer FREE Coffee and one of the best Pound cakes you could ever eat, once again, at NO CHARGE. We were not rushed at all to buy Coffee from them, it is the nature of a humble farmer to offer their product, which by the way cannot be purchased at stores, so once there we needed to take some home, otherwise, what was the purpose!!
Yes, we did call to confirm availability and hours of visit. We appreciate their time with our family and friends (10). Definitely recommend for a weekend trip around the Island, Thanks Much Gran Batey!!

The lake is run by the government so there is no charge for admission or boat ride. The boats leave at times posted on the wall, about every hour to hour and a half.
There is plenty of shaded Seating while you wait. Restrooms are clean.
The boat ride is about 30-40 minutes. It is very scenic. We went during the week. It wasn't crowded. We took the old road back to Utuado. It was a nice ride.

Awesome experience from start to finish. Host was very funny with the jokes. Plus very knowledgeable about areas of Puerto Rico. He took us to caves, Waterfalls, kayaking and hiking. The whole time he was very intentive with watching our large crowd and making sure we all stayed together safely and out of harm's way. Next trip to PR I will definitely be using his company again. A+++ Great Job

Official site for friends of nature and hikers from around the world: welcome to the most extreme adventure of the Caribbean!
Seriously the best experience of my life! We were so lucky to come upon these guys.
The cave tubing hiking and rock repelling was of course amazing and beautiful in itself, however I don't think that the experience would of been half as wonderful if we did this tour with a different company
There are a bunch of companies that offer these tours but trust me, you want these guys. We passed some of the other companies on tours and all of them had 20/30 people per tour guide! We on the contrary had 2 incredible tour guides for 9 people, making it so much more intimate and special. They would stop and point out uniques plants and took us to a fresh water stream for drinking and even showed us a type of mud used for mud masks! They were such genuinely kind hearted people and most of the funds are donated to the little community around the area to ensure that it continues to thrive!
At the end of the tour the owner'a wife had a home cooked lunch laid out on the table...such sweet and genuinely kind hearted people! A family business that you will feel great about contributing business towards. If you choose to have this amazing experience please choose this one!!!

We reserved a trip a month in advance and received a few emails before we arrived in Puerto Rico. Three nights before our excursion, however, we received a long text message in Spanish. Since we're from NC and do not know much Spanish (the emails we received earlier were in Spanish and English, btw so why the sudden lack of English; I wouldn't have expected it unless we knew that English was spoken) we were only able to pick out some key words/phrases and didn't think much of it. We drove 2 hours (leaving at 6 from San Juan) to arrive at a hard to find Taino Indian Museum/Park. We were 10 minutes early, so we waited. At 8, we started calling attributing the unanswered calls to Caribbean time (running a few minutes late). After we called three times (8:20 by now) we received the same text in Spanish. We asked some other local Puerto Rican residents to interpret the text message and it was a cancellation text.
Not only could she not answer the phone with a simple explanation, she knowingly sent us something we wouldn't understand. I wouldn't recommend doing anything with this company; pick a more reliable one if you really want to enjoy Puerto Rico without having to scramble to fill in lost time.

Cacique Eco Adventures Tanama: A family company providing tour services since 2014 in the area of Angeles Utuado. We immerse in safe and ecofriendly activities for the whole family. Founded in the principle of conserving our natural resources, while being able to enjoy them and showcase the importance of our history, hidden within our landscape.
I have taken the Tanama river excursion twice with Albert and his Cacique staff. Both times I had an amazing time. Albert is a great tour guide with vast knowledge of Tanama and its surroundings. I felt safe during all the excursion. You will not be disappointed by the beautiful Tanama river, I am Puertorrican and I was certainly in awe. If you would like to explore Tanama, I would certainly recommend Cacique.

Although it's stuck at the end of a winding road, every single detail makes up for it.
I'm a native Puerto Rican, and this is one of my favorite places on this beautiful island. The Panorama that follows through the whole trip to get there is beautiful and breathtaking. You can stop along the road to take photographs, and once you get to la Hacienda, keep the camera snapping.
You’re quickly greeted by the two owners (Bernardo and Lotty) at the main house, where they take in guests. It is a very friendly environment and the epitome of Puerto Rican hospitality. Lotty asked where were from and the offered us coffee and the best cornbread I have had in a long time. We sat down and drank coffee with the other guests and chatted for a while. Then, we were given a tour (by Bernard) of the grounds and the production area. He gave us a thorough explanation of the coffee's history (in general) and a mention of the neighboring Haciendas. Bernardo explained to me and my family how the coffee is managed at the Hacienda: how it's picked, processed, and sold. He is a very sweet old man and is more than willing to answer all your questions!
It is a family owned business and it is doing quite well. They produce high-quality coffee and sell it as what I, as a coffee lover, think is a reasonable price!
The best part was trying the delicious coffee and being told about the history of the place.
If you’re a tourist that doesn’t speak Spanish, I recommend going on the weekends. Their son works there on the weekends and he is the mot fluent one (in English), but Bernardo also manages with the language.
Calling before going is recommended, but even if you pop by unannounced, they will be the kindest of folk. They treat you like family. I absolutely loved this place.
You don’t have to walk a lot, and there're plenty of places to sit, but you should still bring closed-toe shoes and big smiles. It’s really sunny, so maybe bring a cap or sunhat as well. Bring a camera, camera phone, whatever works to snap pictures.
A must-do if you live or are a tourist on the Island!

This is the second or third experience we have had with Batey. We had previously done rappelling, zip lining, and kayaking. We had a great experience on those trips and this experience was just as good. Jorge does an outstanding job and makes every experience special. It is clear he loves his job and loves people. The finca is beautiful and the horseback riding was quite relaxing. He let us dictate the pace to our liking and by the latter part of the trip we felt comfortable letting the horses open up a bit. On our trip we also had incredible coffee and iced lemonade. There is no doubt we will be back again for another adventure.
