This restaurant tends to be over-looked, it seems, but it is a neat place for good food, including local favorites and American style. We actually had fried rice here, a generous portion and very tasty. The service is prompt and friendly. Located on the main road, it's a good place for lunch or dinner.

The food was excellent and plentiful. My daughter had the seafood soup in coconut broth. I had the 1 pound whole fish. We shared the ceviche without conch. Everything was delicious. As with previous reviews, the service is sweet but not on point. Ceviche appetizer came with the meal. Despite only 2 tables occupied, it took forever to get our food. They were out of gin. But the ladies were super sweet and were really trying. Serving to the right. Taking plates from the left. Learning the business! We are going back tonight for the 2 lb lobster.

The service as great , the timely Delivery of meal was an excellent surprise not to say the finger licking experience of the cultural delicacy of the Garifuna culture that you cannot find any place else.
Looking down toward the Barrique as a plus as well as the passsers by. I enjoyed every moment of the Tropical breezes as we sat with our fresh cold coconut water looking down towards the carribean Sea.
What a treat as well as a special surprise. away from the middle of the hustle of town.
the location of Cafe Gotay allows fot the oppurtunity to get to see the =community of La Buga Livingston that you would other wise not see.

We did this trip, mostly because we weren't interested in long bus rides or any of the other alternatives, but wanted to take the opportunity to see some of the country. The boat ride was somewhat rough, but reasonable on the day we went. The scenery is interesting, but I wouldn't say amazing. Strolling through Livingston makes you appreciate all most of us are blessed with.

The nicest outdoor dining in Livingston. Dine next to the river under the stars or our umbrellas. We have the best food in town, specializing in Vegetarian, fresh fish, shrimp, calamari and Pizza. Our Shrimp and Calamari Pizza is our speciality. We also offer Curries, Masala and Paprika dishes. We know how to prepare fish, shrimp and Calamari in incredible ways that you will not forget. I buy my fish, shrimp and Calamari from the boats in my back yard at 6:30 AM daily. I promise you the best dishes in Livingston. We make everything from scratch including our salad dressings, Curries, Masala, Mojitos, Pina Coladas and more. Our dough and pizza sauce are our own creation. The dough is made the day before to increase the natural flavours of the dough overnight. Our pizza sauce is nothing you have ever had before. We can prepare special vegetarian dishes as you like and our Vegan pizza is outrageous.
Really loved this place. A lot of vegetarian options. We (2) shared the vegetarian quesidias, they were packed full of flavor. The environment is beautiful. The host is super friendly. We loved talking to him. Everything was great. We would certainly go back!

My wife, friends, and I went to Rosita's two nights ago, and I could not have been more pleased. The service was spot on, the food was magnificent, and the ambiance--on the shores of Rio Dulce was enchanting. The restaurant is a bit out of the way, a pleasant walk on a boardwalk over lowlands, but it was worth every step. The man whom I assumed was the owner came to our table twice to make sure our evening was all we wanted. The wait-staff was polite and efficient. Even the chef cam to our table to make sure all was right. I had the conch with garlic, and it was a huge portion. The prices were very fair for the food we received. If you are in the Rio Dulce area, do not this miss this amazing dining experience.

Our dinner here was great - we ordered the chicken curry and it was very good - we could have done with it being a bit spicer, but we love very spicy food. It was a good level of spicy for most people, I think. The staff were very friendly, and spoke a bit of English, helpful as we speak very little Spanish! The restaurant is right on the main street of Livingston, so you can people watch as you eat. (But not be bothered by people.) The restaurant and the bathrooms were very clean as well.

If you're looking for Garifuna cuisine, you've found it. This is as authentic as it gets, with a broad menu of home-cooked traditional dishes. The family atmosphere is magical, the service is excellent, and, of course, the food is like none other in Livingston. Slightly off the beaten path, this beach-side location on the Garifuna side of town is worth seeking out. I will return often.

This is a nice Guatemalan-owned restaurant. Most of what they serve they make or source locally. Security is on-site for parking. If you go on a weekend, make time for this as you could be there for a couple of hours or longer...enjoy the slow pace! Lots of families here on the weekend. The fried fish is awesome and you can't beat their Pina Coladas, which are made with freshly ground coconut (everyday). Whoever said the comment about steak...this part of Guatemala is not known for their beef...anywhere. So if you're a beef eater wait until you return to your country or Guate City.

Restaurant Margoth represents the true taste of Caribbean food for over 38 years, serves all kinds of seafood being their specialty the famous "Tapado" (seafood soup, banana and coconut milk) also features various dishes adapting to everyone. We invite you to visit us at Livingston Izabal ,Guatemala 's Caribbean paradise .
Food was generally mixed in Livingston, but of the places we tried, this was by far the best. The food was good - we had the tapado and a really nice soup. The place was clean but the best thing was the service - both the young male waiter and the young girl (owner's daughter?) were pleasant and chatty and made you feel like they actually wanted to serve you - a lot of other places hadn't.
