I was surprised how fun my trip to Monkey Hill was. The grounds are large and tranquil. There is a large enclosure you walk through with deer. Also watching the monkeys playing and feeding them popcorn was great. Staff are throughout the park to answer questions. Fun for kids and adults.

The almost-tropical island of Mainau features a magnificent garden at its center and an ancient castle, which was the former residence of the Knights of the Teutonic Order.

Nearly 1,500 years old, this medieval castle has been well-preserved and remains open to visitors.
I believe this is the longest inhabited castle in Germany and perched on the hill at the top of the old town it's a steep climb up from the harbour area. The ticket office is within the gift shop before the moat bridge entrance. Tickets are in my opinion slightly expensive for what you get and no doubt this is the reason a lot of visitors take pictures from outside but venture no further (there is a cafe within the grounds but not sure if you can visit that separately). Regardless of your nationality, it's well worth purchasing a guide pamphlet for an additional 1e (there are no room hosts/docents). There are quite a few displays of arms and armour but the rooms/displays/furniture are starting to show their age and I just got the feeling everything is going to be left as it is until something collapses. The chapel at the end of your self guided tour is quite ornate. A famous German poetess lived here for the last 8yrs of her life and died in one of the rooms on display. Although interesting, I wouldn't say this is a "must see" attraction.
Groups can arrange tours of other rooms in the castle not normally open to the general public. The cafe is nothing special and the outside wooden Seating is need of replacement.

"Stadtgarten" is a beautiful recreational park at the edge of the Old Town of Überlingen - very much worth a visit and a walk. Wonderful botanical experience. Parking is available right nextdoor - in a central perking house.

We visit the Pfahlbaumuseum each time we vísit Lake Constance. While the facility grows slowly, the excellence of the presentations improves and expands significantly each year. This year we participated in a simulated harvesting, shaping and setting of a pile. The best part was the inclusion of children and adolescents in the actual work. On previous visits we prepared food, made fires and tools. Your energy will run out before your interest and involvement does. This museum is a treasure.
A hint for visitors who speak English but not German: Most of the presenters speak relatively good English (as do the majority of Germans). After watching a presentation, engage the presenter between groups. You can pick up most of what you might have missed.

You can walk, walk your bike, or drive right onto the ferry and then pay while you are on board. The wait at the port is short on both sides, and the ride is quick and easy. It will save you a bunch of time between Meersburg and Konstanz and is much preferable to the long drive around. In Konstanz, it does not drop you off where most of the tourist attractions are, including the therme, if that's in your plans. You can get to all of those places easily by bus, however, so an all-day pass procured from a machine at the bus stop near the ferry dock in Konstanz is recommended.

We spent about two hours wandering around the Gardens, church and fire museum. We did not pay extra to go into the main house. There is a nice playground next to the fire museum.

My partner was here with her daughter in 2011 and saw a wooden statue of Jesus sitting rather like Rodin's "Thinker" and she really wanted to find this again. So we went through the church and one room was locked so as she couldn't find the statue she decided it must be locked in this room. We even visited nearby St. Stephens to be sure. But it turs out the statue is in fact inside Muenster but we just weren't lucky enough to find it.
Apart from that, the church goes back to before 975 AD so it must be one of the oldest structures in Konstanz and if you are "into" churches this one is a must-see.

It was a mother day, tante Barbel and I tried to reach the tower. We paid a donation for 2,50€/person to get the permission. There were boys/girls scouts on the desk near the main altar. Someone told me that there were about 242 steps! No problem, to see a giant bell was amazing! The view from above was marvellous; Bodensee and the city! Wow. Those released my fatigue. OK. The bell rings every 15 minutes and per hour. No wonder why they close the door after 16.45 or the tourist ears will get pain. It might be too loud. Enjoy climbing the tower...
