This one has been on my bucket list for ten years and on my third attempt the weather was finally on my side. Spectacular views over Cape Town and the Bay. The walk on top of the Table Mountain is breathtaking as well. Highly recommended but make sure you book your ticket online in advance.

Table Mountain

The mountain in the middle of Cape Town offers many hikes and magnificent views in all directions.

We visited the stunningly beautiful Table Mountain. The cable ride to the top of the mountain was great fun with some absolutely incredible views, and once we were on top of The Table Mountain it was like stepping into heaven as you are lost for words on the breathtaking views and the amazing surrounds. Visiting Table Mountain and witnessing the majestic views was like being on the edge of space and seeing the beautiful clear blue sky on the horizon and all the beautiful areas and the coastline in the distances was just an experience we will never forget. Me, my wife and our daughter had the most amazing experience as the views and the surrounds made us feel like being lost, but in the right direction. This was without a doubt one of the highlights of our incredible South African holiday.

Wow! We were so looking forward to our safari at the Shamwari Game reserve and it didn’t disappoint, it was most definitely the highlight of our 3 week stay. We arrived around 12.00 at Bayethe Tented Lodges, we were greeted with a drink and our accommodation was ready and waiting, speaking to other guests they experienced the same quality of service as the turnover of lodges is quick because most stays are only for 3 nights. The lodges are well equipped and serviced twice a day. The game drives are amazing and our guide Vuyo was superb he managed not only to track down 4 of the big 5 (Leopards are very elusive) but he drove the safari truck right up close and personal so that we get some amazing camera shots of the animals. Vuyo went that extra transfer step to ensure you got the best angle. The game reserve is huge, 63000 acres that at times feels like you are in Jurassic park. The food was great and everyone was very sociable sharing their stories each day at breakfast and the evening meal. They had blankets and rain proof ponchos in the trucks and it was a nice touch that they stopped for a tea or coffee in the morning and your beverage of choice in the evening game drive. We also booked in for massages which we both thoroughly enjoyed. We loved it and plan to go back with our family within the next two years.

Robberg Nature Reserve

Just outside Plettenburg Bay. Small entry fee to reserve but you can stay as long as you like. Limited parking. Good toilet facilities in car park. There are several routes of various length through the reserve with spectacular sea and cliff views. We saw lots of Cape fur seals. However, all of these routes require a good level of fitness. Even the shortest circular route involved some scrambling up a steep rocky path.
Closed walking shoes are a must (lots of ants), plenty water, sunscreen and binoculars.
Small picnic area at car park.
Well worth a visit.

Jo and John are absolutely great. We were a group of seven friends and a child. They kindly accommodated us, as we could catch neither the morning ride nor the afternoon one, and they accepted to book us in between (12 pm). Though we were all beginners, we enjoy the one hour and a half of walk through the forest and the beautiful scenery. I would warmly recommend to all, beginners and experienced the same as they also have paths with obstacles for jumping.
Removed a star/dot in the rating as I feel the bathroom facilities have room for improvement.

Eikehof

The name and boutique winery of the Malherbes of Eikehof can be found amongst the decades old oak trees from which it get its name. Fourth generation Francois Malherbe makes his wine in the same cellar that his great grandfather used. Eikehof has one of the oldest still producing vineyard blocks in South Africa.

My husband and I visited this place as part of the winetram tour. It's a lovely little wine farm, so relaxing to sit under the trees at the back of the property and talk with the owners about what they are trying to achieve, while sipping a welcome drink of chilled rose wine. Their 16 year old daughter has also produced her own version of a Cape Ruby (like port) which was yummy. We had a delicious cheese and meat platter with home grown peaches while we tasted 5 wines - we bought a couple of bottles of the excellent Merlot. Believe the reviews and go!

Marbrin Olive Farm

We are a small family-run boutique olive farm nestled in the renowned Robertson Breede River Valley surrounded by the Langeberg and Riviersonderend Mountains. We extract extra virgin olive oil and process our own unique range of table olives and tapenade. Come and enjoy the ambience of the Robertson Valley as well as the taste of our olives and olive oil, a fruit well-known for its remarkable health benefits. Heading out of Robertson towards Ashton on the Red you will turn left into into Klaasvoogds East (NOT Klaasvoogds West) and travel for about another 2km's till you see the big green Marbrin Olive growers board on your right, turn in there and follow the dirt road for another 2KM'S till you reach the tasting room. Road can be a little bumpy in places, but worth it.

I found this attraction when I looked for thing to do around Robertson. We had a whole tour around Robertson visiting the wine farms and went to this farm. We were welcomed with open arms by Bryony. We sat outside and 2 other couples joined our family. My husband and I with my parents in-law. Clive was inside with another group and the tasting started. We tasted from the olives to the olive oil accompanied with a bread that Clive bakes. The nicest bread I had in a long time! Should have asked for the recipe. I think Clive could work in the theater as he is quite the entertainer. He made jokes and the atmosphere was great. We ended off with the most divine Limoncello. We left will olive oil, olives and would have bought more but were restricted on the plane. We had a lovely visit and would go there again. I would make a reservation for lunch and taste more of the produce incorporated in their food.
