From early morning as the mist descends the Shannon Estuary to the Wild Atlantic Sea, to the setting of the sun in the late of the evening, ShannonFerry will take you and your vehicle on this memorable 20 minute journey across the estuary linking the iconic tourist destinations of the Banner County of Clare to the Kingdom of Kerry. This is a lovely experience for visitors who would like a short break in their journey to relax as they sail across the majestic Shannon Estuary. And if you're lucky, you might even catch a glimpse of the dolphins, which in the summer, can sometimes swim so near the ferry, as if just to entertain you. As the only vehicle ferry trip on the main spine of the Wild Atlantic Way, this invigorating journey allows you experience the rugged nature of land and sea as you breath in the fresh salty sea air that encapsulates Irelands Wild Atlantic Way.
Well organised, quick and super convenient. It was leaving every half hour over the summer. We even saw dolphins in the estuary on the way over.Thank you for the positive review and we are glad you enjoyed the trip with us on the Wild Atlantic Way. The Dolphins are a treat!

Loved Seating on a soft puffy grass and observing the ocean and waves...serene and stress free....ahhhhh...amazing. you can rest and relax and feel free there. Reading or taking a stroll on the beach as well soooo relaxing.

We love going to the Vandeleur Gardens to walk, eat, relax and have fun. The forest surrounding the Gardens are wonderful for walking and when you are finished there you can go for something to eat in the restaurant before exploring the beautiful walled Gardens. The staff are friendly and helpful whilst the food is freshly prepared and served by a happy staff who obviously enjoy working here.

Had a great time stand-up paddle boarding in Kilkee with my teenage son. We rented all the equipment needed and were given a full run through on how to use and enjoy it.
Prices were very cheap and I would recommend the company to anyone considering attempting any of the facilities they have to offer.

Visit us for guided tours of our dolphin research and education centre, and learn about the valuable work we do on the Shannon Estuary bottlenose dolphin population! Find out about the different whale and dolphin species living in Irish waters and study some real skeletons of common and rare species. Listen to dolphin sounds and watch a movie about our research. Explore our cabinet filled with interesting specimens of all kinds. Kids can explore our goggle boxes and rubbing boards or try to solve the giant jigsaw!
I visited Kilrush with a group of 9 road (and wine) weary friends on an annual visit to Ireland. We stumbled into the centre and were kindly offered a tour (which the extremely knowledgeable staff split in two and carried out in parallel!). The extent of their knowledge and their great enthusiasm for the centre and the animals was inspirational, and all of our party thoroughly enjoyed the tour. This kind of attraction is increasingly important as we need to act now to conserve these incredible creatures, and exposing younger generations to such passionate and involved scientists will surely see it done.

Buggles Pub and B&B is a traditional pub built circa. 1800, owned and operated by three generations of the same family. Its warm, relaxing atmosphere is welcoming and the adjoining Bed and Breakfast is of the finest quality with large spacious rooms overlooking the noted Heritage Town of Kilrush. Some of our rooms overlook Kilcredane Lighthouse and the historic townland of Reaha.Kilrush has a fine Georgian streetscape, a marina, an eighteen hole golf course, Dolphin boat trips, the restored nineteenth century Vandeleur Walled Gardens, and of course the restored West Clare Railway (immortalised by Percy French: 'are you right there Michael'), the magnificent and ancient Scattery Island which contains the remains of five of seven churches, an intact 5th century, 120 feet round tower, Napoleonic battery, a light house and keepers cottage, the deserted 'street' from the 1960s is both eerie and charming. A monthly lecture series by the local Kilrush Historical Society complements many of the local activities. Kilrush is a veritable Photographers Paradise (a quick search through Flickr confirms this) and all are welcome to enjoy the music, sample the atmosphere and experience the tranquility of Kilrush topped-off with a great pint of Guinness with Shamrock atop in Buggles Pub.
I visit county clare once a year as I have family there. I stopped one evening at buggles and wasn't delighted about the service or attitude of the owners.
I gave them the benefit of the doubt and went again a few days later. I was there with a friend and we were the only people in the bar and wanted to catch up. The owner turned on the TV and turned the volume up as high as it could go to the point where we could not hear a word eachother were saying. It was clear we were not wanted there at the time. Needless to say I never went again and never will!

Despite inclement weather, we decided to brave the rain and board the Dolphin Discovery! The two and a half hour journey along the Shannon Estuary way exceeded our expectations. The crew were very attentive throughout the journey ensuring everyone stayed as dry as possible and were available to answer any questions. There was commentary on board and additional information given of the variety of species to be found.
The Dolphin Discovery advise of a 98% success rate on their trips and we were not disappointed. We saw a variety of dolphins swimming in groups which was an amazing sight to behold, all within a short distance of the boat. Plenty of time was given to admire them and various opportunities for some memorable photographs.
The office administrator was very obliging in helping us during our booking of this trip of which we are very grateful. All in all an experience we will remember for a long time to come and we would fully recommend it to others.

The monument stands in the middle of the street- so you do have to be careful to inspect it while avoiding the traffic.
The memorial which may be described as heavy handed Hiberno Romanesque in style commemorates three men from Kilrush, William Allen, Michael Larkin, and Michael O'Brien who in 1867 attacked a police vehicle and killed a police sergent.
The three men were members of the Irish Republican Brotherhood or Fenians.
All three were hanged for their actions. the monument was erected in 1903.
