On a beautiful sunny day my family set out to raft the Lardeau river. They made their Reservations in Kaslo and were told that it would be 6 hours with lunch included.
There was a photographer that followed them along the route to take amazing pictures.
The ride and the scenery was amazing.By the time they were finished and got back home, about a hour drive, the pictures were already on Dropbox, and we were all excited to sit and watch.

We have been visiting Kaslo for 40+ years, and have had the pleasure of watching as this project has unfolded. I recently visited with my brother (visiting from Europe), and toured the now stationary and permanently dry docked vessel. Totally Fascinating. Excellent restorative work, and totally well thought out interpretive information make this a memorable and educational afternoon experience. If you like history and folklore, don't pass this one by!

We went for Stellar's first heliski trip of the 2016-17 winter ski season - had a fantastic time. Stellar run a first rate operation - very low key, professional and thorough. The focus on safety was perfectly balanced with the thrill of deep powder turns in cold smoke pow - WhoooHooo! :-) <this was a father-son trip and we had a blast!!> Did I mention the snow was awesome too!! :-)

What an amazing place for a hike. It is like the land of Waterfalls on the approximately 3 mile slog uphill to Kokanee Lake. Water anf lush forest greenery in all directions leading to spectacular Mountains. Even in August the wildflowers were in full bloom. Beautiful vistas in every direction. We started at Gibson Lake, which itself is quite lovely and easy to access with kids or those who want a gentle stroll against a beautiful back drop. The road up is bumpy and you do not need 4 wheel drive but adequate ground clearance is a must.

Kaslo Kayaking is all about safety. The owner was friendly and while he wanted to earn money, safety was always top priority.
Prior to canoeing, he made several trips to examine the condition and he kept on advising us where we should be rowing.
You will definitely feel safe and secure if you choose to patronize his business.

Fletcher Falls is so beautiful, it's an easy hike to the waterfall, probably takes 5 min. You also have an opportunity to get really close to the waterfall, and it's kinda surreal! The best part of this waterfall is that it's not that popular, so when we went, there was no one there, and when we were leaving another family was just arriving. The waterfall is close to the lake, they have picnic tables set up, some firewood for a bonfire... so bring a lunch and enjoy the view!
It's a tad tricky to find if you are unfamiliar with the area so just look for Fletcher Road and it's right at the end... you will see a little yellow gate and that's where you start your walk.

The museum clearly communicates how appalling was Canada's treatment of Japanese Canadians in the second world. I don't know how anyone could fail to be moved by the photos and the stories.
A bigger budget for the museum would help, but it's a great job given (evidently) limited resources.

A must see. Everything you need to know about the history of the area.... the mining history.
All kinds of knick knacks have been collected by the owner.
Entrance by donation.
And it is located in Theresas. A great little coffee show. Home made sandwiches and fantastic home made pies.
Visit the the mine museum before or after or snack... but don't miss either :)

We toured BC and the Rockies and the best Campground, scenery, wildlife and small town was Kaslo. The trip there across the Balfour ferry was fantastic. The road north to "The Drifter Pub"at Meadow creek is great for Bear spotting and the Campground at Mirror Lake was very nice with all the amenities we get in UK.

Cruise, fish and explore sensational Kootenay Lake from the unique vantage point of a houseboat. It's all yours to enjoy: the quiet hidden coves, vast sandy Beaches, vibrant lakeside towns and superb Freshwater fishing. Choose from our four seaworthy cruise vessels, each fully furnished with a spacious wheelhouse, full galley, full bathroom and complete sleeping facilities for four, six or eight people.
The kaslo shipyard is awesome. They rent steel ships (they make the ships themselves) and you take out on Kootenay Lake. We rented the M.V. Ariadne and it is awesome. I highly recommend this renting here.
