Helligdomsklipperne offers spectacular views of a ragged, rocky coastline on Northern Bornholm. Probably best enjoyed by boat (MS Thor travels from Gudhjem multiple times a day), you get a good impression from the landside.
I would recommend though to expand your visit by following the coastal tracks either north or south, well marked tracks that's not busy and offers the possibility to get really close to nature.

It is still a functional church today, the building is well preserved, and the largest amount the four in Bornholm. If you only have time for one, this is it. A DKK10 fee is imposed, and it is worth it. There are some token English interpretive here and there, and the booklet is Dkk20. Do take the stair up to the top and don't forgot to walk through the graves in the garden, to spot some of the tomb stones that is a few hundreds years old. There is also a nice cafe opposite the church for relaxation and admiring the architectural design for a far.

A beautiful gallery of hand-blown glass, a specialty on the island Some of the pieces are staggeringly beautiful - and staggeringly expensive. The wine glasses are about Euros 60 each. Worth the visit - and they sell 'seconds': pieces that have small flaws can go for a very reasonable price

Bornholm was a stop on our Baltic cruise which we almost decided to skip. That would have been a big mistake. Bornholm is an island that is part of Denmark. The entire island was lovely with quaint villages and views of the sea. Especially nice was the village of Gudjhem which is a great place to walk around and take pictures. Also, be sure and see the Round Church which is about 30 minutes from Gudjhem.

The museum is set in Oluf Høst's private house. The garden and atelier is beautiful and inspiring. The old hen house is transformed to a childrens painting workshop. The main building shows top quality examples of Oluf Høst's painting. The first floor film about his life is in Danish with English subtitles and gives an insigt in a very interesting cultural beacon from Gudhjem, Bornholm. Also the staff are very friendly and enthiusiastic.

The museum has a wonderful white on white architectural design and spacious outdoor garden for sculpture display. Beside looking at the planting and craft from Danish Master (Oluf Host, Karl Isakson...) you would be amazed by the artistic scenery from the windows that look like great paintings. 3-story of exhibits to explore. There are also cafe and museum shop. After viewing the museum's excellent collections, I would strongly recommend that you take a slow walk down to the Sanctuary Cliffs to experience the scenic yet dramatic rock formation. Which will take you an additional half an hour to one hour, depending on your level of fitness. It is totally worth it!

The tour guides through the center were lovely and engaged a whole group of students in their 1 hour tour of the center.
I especially liked it when they had a kid climb through a tree to prove he wasn't a witch, and then later put him in the stockade, to show how effective they were.
We were also allowed to try some archery - and the staff at that activity were knowledgeable, helpful and safety conscious.
I would take a group of students here again!

I do not usually click on poor rating but I am writing this to say, if you visit Bornholm and it has not rained for a while, do not go and see the waterfall. It was virtually dried up when we went to see it. You will need a phone with a map or a real map as once you are in the forest you will get lost if you do not have one. Looking at the rocks, height etc. I guess it is small even if it does rain. Well all I can say is the trees and woodland around it were quite pretty. It someone struggles to walk then do not attempt to find it in the woods.

We were fortunate enough to be here when the glass making was in progress. They are true professionals and artisans.
My dad grew up on Bornholm so I bought some treasures here to take home. It's not cheap but when you see the work and love that goes into each piece - you understand why.
