Having been to Iceland 6 times, and somewhat familiar with the role many Icelanders have played in Manitoba this Museum is really fascinating!! The exhibits, like Iceland, are limited in number-- BUT NOT IN QUALITY!!! The presentation of the history is also very interesting. This is a definite MUST SEE when visiting Gimli!!

What a knowledgeable guide at this museum! Did the self guided tour but then was able to talk to the woman selling the $5 senior tickets. She can trace her heritage back to the real RAGNOR NORTHBROOK, of the Vikings series. Loved the history of their struggle to survive the multiple disasters in Iceland then in Canada. Wished there was more about their stop in Kinmount ON ( another disaster). There are great books for purchase in the small gift shop.

An escape room is a group adventure that involves solving a series of puzzles using clues hidden within a themed room. Your challenge is to communicate and cooperate with your team in a race against the clock… You have 60 minutes to escape. (Note: you can exit the room at any time.) $20/ person, $100 room minimum. 4-8 people per group recommended. *Varies based on room size.
Had a really great time at this escape room. My family and I stumbled upon this gem during our day trip to Gimli. We've done many escape rooms in other cities and enjoy it very much. The room itself was very neat and full of surprises. My brother's 5 year old and 11 month old were in there with us too and they kept themselves busy as we were solving puzzles. Our hostess, Idris, was very friendly and accommodating! Thank you :) I look forward to trying their future room next time I'm in town!

This farmers market is great! First of all for kids there is a petting zoo, old tractors for the kids to play on and large wood toys to play on. There are special unique food items such as Saskatoon pie (like a blueberry pie), Hutterite donuts (like Krispy Kreme)--Hutterites are like Mennonite/Amish people, other baked goods, honey, jams etc. Then there are local craft items such as moccasins, fur boots, necklaces that are made from Canadian items (I bought several for presents), there is food such as Chinese and Thai food made on site and lots of miscellaneous items. There are plants for those that can return home in Canada. This is a true gem and not to be missed. Parking is free with overflow parking--best to come early, if possible. Not open in winter. Opens Memorial Day.

Such a specialised museum in a small town deserves support--- and this one earns it!! The very rare event--- a modern jet running out of Jet fuel and then landing in Gimli's "airport"... is very well documented!! Do yourself a favour and pay the museum a visit!!

My first-ever visit to Manitoba included a trip to Gimli, and what better place to start than at the Lake Winnipeg Visitor Centre!
Although small, the place is welcoming and perfectly situated by the lake. We enjoyed learning about the plant/animal life as well as the Icelandic history of the area.
The staff is friendly and there are leaflets available which provide more information.

In need of a new experience around Winnipeg? Try an airplane ride! Welcome on board of our airplane to discover the view from the sky... Explore the spectacular sceneries of the Interlake area ! Enjoy the flight, bring your friends and don't forget your camera!
I rented a sightseeing flight for my mother, she is not use to fly and wanted to see the forest change colour just before fall.
The flight above the lakes and forest was really nice and the view beautiful. Lake Winnipeg really looks like a small sea from above.
The pilot was nice and professionnal.
It was fun, we'll do it again.
Of course bring a camera.
