Summer Season 2017 ( 29 April – 6 November 2017) Since 1959, Katrin cable car has brought a range of visitors to the summit. Enjoy a charming 15-minute drive to more than 1,400 m above sea level with spectacular views! Spa town Bad Ischl as the heart of the Salzkammergut with its "Darling", Mount Katrin, has been a place of recreation since the imperial period. While the city with its cultural diversity and the historic buildings and places leaves nothing to be desired, Bad Ischl's Darling provides a unique nature experience. The impressive mountain scenery and the almost infinite expanse have always brought people to marvel. 7 LAKES VIEW Enjoy fabulous views: to the south the magnificent Lake Hallstattsee, to the west the majestic Lake Wolfgangsee, and further beyond, perched higher up, Lake Fuschlsee. Lake Nussensee with its Emerald color, the mystical Lake Schwarzensee and to north-east Lake Traunsee are also to see. At perfect weather conditions you can see the Bavarian Lake Tachingersee in the far distance. NUMEROUS Panorama ROUTES The network of the circular walk extends from lovely Feuer- and Rosenkogerl westwards to the imperial Katrin summit and further to the beautiful Elferkogel, followed by the romantic Hainzen and the mighty Rosskopf - always accompanied by the impressive mountain scenery of the Salzkammergut that will inspire you. Multi-generation Via Ferrata Apart from fun and action for those who want to be active, the promising fixed rope route (suitable for families) offers a fabulous view of the most beautiful lakes of the Salzkammergut region. As highlight, the ascent ends at the majestic cross on the summit of Mount Katrin.
From Katrin one can view three Valleys that lead away from Bad Ischl. Plenty of trails are available. Decent restaurant next to upper landing. The rides up and down are spectacular.

We visited the palace in June 2017 and as well as walking through the grounds we took the guided tour. The grounds were very pleasant with lots of wooded walks and included the summer house of the Empress. The tour itself could have been so much better because no English was spoken and no audio guides were available. True, we were given a double sided A4 sheet in English for us to follow but this in no way matched everything the guide was saying in German. Consequently we felt we missed out a lot. Given the historical significance of this property we felt this was very poor.

The short but steep hike to Siriuskogl is worth it for the beautiful views of Bad Ischl and the surrounding countryside. The trail up is a "play trail" with engaging activities for kids (and playful grown-ups) along the way. We ate dinner at the top and thoroughly enjoyed eating outdoors in this stunning setting.

First of all, you have to pay for the whole day when visiting sauna section, although you actually spend there 3-4 hours. The whole complex is not big, there is no outside pool in sauna section. Some of the seances with sauna master are interesting (for example, with honey). Many very old and disable people.

On August 1st we went to see the musical Hello Dolly! A nice light musical with pleasant sceneries, good singers and ballet!
We have been in Bad Ischel earlier years and saw many operettas. Next year they will stage the Count of Luxembourg and Gigi, the Parisian musical of which a film with Maurice Chevalier was made in the 50ies!

The museum is located in the Hotel Austria building, and is three floors. They have everything about life in Bad Ischl; it's interesting how much they stress how long tourists have been coming to this area and then there's nothing in English. But not bad, nevertheless. About 45 minutes is enough to see it all.

We were lucky to have had the last guided tour for this year. The central location makes it easy to reach. The exhibited original objects demonstrate the rich extravagant Lehar style of life and the music he created. Worth a visit..

Was a bit confused at first what this 'place' is. Its not a 'place' its the entire First Saturday of the month in the Summer's Flea Market.
It was excellent it felt like the entire town was looking around the Market, plenty to see and buy - new and old.
Well worth a visit.

Hire loungers, umbrellas and spend the day relaxing. Separate pools for adults and children. There are lockers and a cafe. Right next to the kaiser villa.
