Lussmanns is Hertford's busiest independent restaurant. Since opening in 2004, they have really come to understand our locals and what they want from their restaurant. Centrally located in the historic 'Egyptian House' (for Da Vinci Code fans, this was rumoured to have been a meeting place of the Knights Templar), this Hertford restaurant is bijou and full of atmosphere at any time of day.
Lovely relaxed warm atmosphere inside, helped take the edge of the awful wet and cold day outside! Our waiter was very friendly, helpful and cheerful. The 'special of the day' Shepherd's pie was generous in portion size, piping hot and delicious.... the creamed potato on...MoreThank you for your complimentary review. Happy to hear that overall we impressed. I have taken note of your suggestions. Best wishes, Laura Easter ([email protected])

Occupying a prime location in the pedestrianised square, Café Rouge looks directly across to the cenotaph and is the ideal place to sit down, relax with a meal and a glass of wine and watch the world go by. A petit bit of trivia: during an outbreak of plague in 1563, the Parliament of England temporarily relocated from London to Hertford. To commemorate this, the square was re-named Parliament Square in the 20th century.
We went to Café Rouge to celebrate Valentine's Day with my other. We were given a nice, romantic table at the back. Wiki was our waitress who provided excellent customer service. She was very professional in a timely manner. She always had time to come...MoreHello Judit, Thank you for your lovely review ! Have been here many times when visiting Hertford. Can be very busy at times, all staff friendly and jovial, good quality of food, although they do occasionally run out of the odd popular items. A good thing,it indicates how popular this cafe is. Walker and cyclist friendly, it's a small number of value cafes that are hard to find in this world of corporate "image" cafes where a coffee costs more than 2ltrs of fuel!

I have eaten here 4 times now and every visit has been perfect. The service is friendly and professional. We have so far had the keaw krob and dim sum for starters which were both delicious, the Thai green chicken curry, lamb massaman, the prawn pad khing, and the ped pad khing (duck). I can't fault any of it, especially the green curry. The coconut rice is delicious as a side too. I am writing this review and my mouth is watering. I find myself always wanting to eat here. This is definitively my favourite restaurant and I would highly recommend it for a Thai meal

Great little pub in the heart of town, staff very friendly and gave a nice welcome. Drinks reasonably priced and food equally love the sausages very tasty. Very good for a quiet drink, business lunch maybe not for a group of friends. Will returnDear hertford-lass Thank you for your review, we are happy you enjoyed your visit and we look forward to welcoming you next time. Sharon Howell General Manager.

It's hard to see into Old Siam from the street so was quite surprised on entering to find myself in such an ornate room with all wooden panelling and stone elephant statues. Given the only dishes advertised outside were the highlights from the main menu it was also a surprise to be given a reasonably priced lunch menu featuring two courses for £9.95. Although there was a good choice of starters and mains most dishes included pork and chicken rather than duck although around four juicy prawns featured amongst peppers and vegetables in the soup I chose as a starter after the arrival of complimentary prawn crackers. My main a red pork curry was vibrant in colour and was a substantial portion although the ratio of vegetables to strips of pork was quite a high one. The highlight of the meal was the refreshing mango sorbet I ordered for dessert comprising two scoops in a bowl with slices of orange. The single espresso I ordered was the size of a double elsewhere. The answer to the size of a double here came with the sugar bowl marked "double espresso". All in all I found my lunch here a relaxing and civilized experience. Not to be rushed.

Visited on a Saturday night and fortunately we had booked as there was a queue all night of people trying to eat. Food and service was excellent with a good feel atmosphere. Naz as usual was also very accommodating. Will be back

Loch Fyne restaurants present a fine selection of fresh shellfish and oysters, along with seasonal fish and seafood specials. Each restaurant is rustic yet contemporary, with an elegant ambience. Grilled meat dishes are available at Loch Fyne, along with a popular kids menu. All of the fresh seafood is sustainably sourced.
Just had a super lunch served by Amber who was attentive and ensured we had everything that we needed. The set menu was good value for money and what we had was well cooke and tasty

Very simply, smart pub, dog-friendly, pleasant/efficient service, great food. Candle in the cake.
Such a quiet location though - I hope business is good - they deserve it!
