My favourite. You must see when you're visiting Hungary around area of Eger. This is beautiful natural place is worth to see once in the life time.Good for family trip with children or for couple for a romantic tour or just simple see how amazing this place is.You can go for a long walk or just a short 4km one if you use the forest train to go up and walk down.Highly recommended to try the fried or smoked trout so tasty and authentic on this area.If u'd like a quiet time rather visit during the weekdays.

The Abbey is one of the oldest built monuments of the Hungarian history.
It is located in a very nice area in the Mountains. You can drop your car and walk or just drive to the abbey.
It was biilt in 1232.
The interior of the abbey was fantastic with amazing lights coming in through the windows! Bring your cameras to take breathtaking photos of medieval history.
Use the audio guide which is part of the entrance ticket.

We took this forest train from Szilvasvarad to Szalajka Valley to the end of the line.
It was approx. a 15-minute ride. It cost HUF 900, one way adult ticket.
It was much fun! Take the open air carriage and enjoy the landscape and the forest!
Highly recommendable! :-)

We arrived there on a foggy cold but fresh afternoon.
We could not see the view but the place was perfect. Silent because except of us were no one upstairs. Beautiful snowy landscape.
We played snowballing just for fun.
Okay we decided to come back in summertime too but to see and taste this nice winter feeling it was worth it.

It is accessible from Szalajka Valley. Some of the trail requires medium strengths to reach. (Approx. 40 min.) An 8,000 kg weight cooker was in here in the 1920s. 30,000 year-old tools were also found in the cave.

Beautiful ranch holding the world famous Lipizzan horses. What's even better is just a few miles out of the city along the Ozdi street. Here in the fascinating surroundings of the Bukk plateau you can see many more mares and foals running free. Truly breathtaking!

One of the visitor centers of Bukk National Park Directorate, where you can find an interactive exhibition about the caves and bats of Bukk National Park. There's a thematic playground for the children at the yard, and a National Park shop in the builidng, where you can buy local products.
On the hiking road in the Szalajka Valley, there is a small house containing a small shop and a bit bigger museum. The entry is free of charge. You can buy homemade local products and some info material about the forest. There are two more rooms in the house where a small museum can be visited. It is pretty interesting but much more for the children. If You are hiking here with children it is a must to have stop. In winter time You can warm up here too :-) I can just recommend it!
