We did two fun dives and it exceeded our expectations. Dive sites were interesting, beautiful formations and swim throughs, lots of nudiebranches! The staff was super attentive, helpful and did proper briefings. The equipment was in perfect condition (not always the case) We didn't even have to put our own gear in order AND they served pancakes at the surface break, what more can you ask for? Highly recommended.

Traditional natural sponge factory and shop.
this shop has 30% reduced prices in natural sponges because the owners have one the main factories in pothia village . the problem is that you need to be lucky enough to find it open! we passed by several times and finally the girls there told they open 10.00-14.00 and 19.00-21.30 and No Sundays !!

Do visit this small but interesting museum of sea life. So many items from the deep. A lot of years of hard work has gone into this. It is now being expanded and improved by the son of the owner. Well presented.

This Greek natural sponge museum/showroom had about every shape, size and texture of sponge I ever imagined; some bigger than your suitcase. A lady explained to our group about the history and dangers Kalymnos sponge divers faced, the equipment used and the different varieties/uses of sponges they sell. A man gave us a demo on rinsing, bleaching and trimming natural sponges. Besides sponges they also sold very pretty net wall-hangings made of sea shells.

excellent day out. from the harbour at Pothia. Cruise out to Vahti, see Dolphins on the way (sometimes). A short stop in Vathi (harbour/port) for a swim in deep clear waters, or walk into small port, 5 mins. for an ice cream. Off to small islans for Food/Souvalaki n salad, then swim/snorkel in clear waters. If you stop on the Church side, take a walk to see it. Pserimos next. Clear bay, sandy beach, clear waters, a few shops & tavernas.
The Captain was excellent, letting a few kids at a time, steer the boat, or start the engines. They had a brilliant day.
All this makes an excellent day out, well worth it.
