FREE attraction in Jonquiere, Quebec. Excellent bike lane/walking path on both sides of the Riviere aux Sables. Plenty of parking on each side of the river. Beautiful views and Bridges. Try to combine it with a short, but steep climb up to mount Jacob, from where you have the best view over the area. The park includes boat rental, several play grounds, a half pipe zone for BMX, inline skates or skeelers and many other outdoor games. In summer, the play ground is a FREE water park.

This is a fabulous park in all seasons. In the summer, you can rent kayaks/paddle boats, and walk through a variety of trails of differing distances. In the winter, there are wonderful snowshoeing trails of varying fitness levels, and cross-country trails. Any time of year, if you bring seeds you can feed birds by hand!

We visited as part of a Viking cruise excursion. We listened to a presentation, then tasted both chocolate and wine. The blueberry wine and raspberry liqueur were both excellent. We purchased some of each plus the chocolate, which was filled with the raspberry and blueberry products. The property is small, but well kept and beautiful setting.

Built in 1912, the St. James the Apostle Anglican chapel held church services until the mid-1980s. On the eve of being demolished, the chapel was moved to Ball Park. The Sir William Price Heritage Centre was founded in 1987, thanks to the concerted effort of citizens and the city of Jonquiere. The organisation’s Mission is to promote heritage, including historical, architectural, urban and industrial, in Saguenay’s Jonquiere borough.
This little museum in a church about the logging and paper industry is so interesting! It really gives you a view of what life was like during that time, working in that industry. The guides speak French and everything is written in English. I enjoyed it very much!

The Pulperie was one of the top Mechanical pulp mills in the world in its hay day. Unfortunately chemical processes made the mechanical processes obsolete and the Pulp mill had to close. They ave made a museum out of the Workshop, but much of the site is not much more than ruins now.

We used the camping facilities and the beach. Nice secluded campgrounds perfect for tent camping, a lot of trees in between most sites, older shower facilities, you have to pay for your shower! laundry facilities very old and not efficient. Beach is nice, very shallow. A bit remote from the city but very quiet at night. Not sure if I would go back but great for rustic camping.
