On holiday at the nearby caravan park. Walked across the golf course to access the beach. Stunning views. Sandy beach with shells. Dogs allowed and poop bins available. It had been very stormy before we arrived so washed up seaweed on the beach. (As seen in photo). Very quiet. Very windy. Further along the beach I understand seals can be seen but we didn't see any. As we went off season I don't know how busy it could get.

Clynelish Distillery is located on the A9 at the popular coastal holiday town of Brora, Sutherland, around one hour north of Inverness. With beautiful views of the North Sea and the hills to the north - where the Clynemilton burn runs over seams of gold in the rock. With this water, Clynelish distillery produces a fruity, waxy, slightly smoky single malt.
My wife and I had a thoroughly brilliant tour around Clynelish Distillery. In spite of this being a fully computerised setup, we had a tremendous experience with full access to the background operations. Our tour guide (Ciara) was very knowledgeable and also gave us a lovely look around the currently closed but soon to be re-opened Brora Distillery. For a Diageo facility, this was an excellent tour with real insight and local history aplenty.

A historic golf course located on hilly terrain.
A long way to drive but we'll worth the journey. A fantastic course with amazing scenery. No two holes the same and all the 4 par 3's point to the 4 points of the compass. If you plan your trip right you can see oyster catchers or arctic turns nesting. Beware the turns a very protective of their space. The greens are true and fast and the few cows and sheep are kept off the greens with electric fence. The club house views are stunning and the food is excellent.

I used to come to Brora as a child visiting my granny. I came again recently when my sister in law and late brother purchased a house in the village. They kept going on about Brora Heritage so I thought I better visit. I'm so...MoreThanks for your kind review Mountains999. We are so glad you enjoyed your visit. Your late brother was a keen supporter of our wonderful heritage here in Brora and it is so sad that Iain couldn't fulfill his dream of living in the village.

Star Stables is a riding center, just 1/2 a mile out side of Brora. It has ample grazing for horses, a schooling field and jumping field used specifically for these activities. It is situated on a working croft so tractors, sheep and cows are regularly seen. The staff are well presented and in uniform with names on the front so visitors can see who they are speaking with. Horses are cared for too a high standard and also are well turned out. Suitable for all ages and abilities. Lessons, treks, pony days and pony parties!! Give us a call to get booked in or to find out more information.
I have visited star stables many times and each visit has been brilliant. Super friendly staff who are always encouraging, brilliant volunteers who are polite and supportive. Excellent facilities, extremely child friendly and the ponies are so wonderful and friendly and always a pony to match the personality and ability of the rider. A great family atmosphere and a wonderful over all experience.

We did a circular drive from Brora where we were staying and came back on the road that runs alongside Loch Brora. A beautiful day out. We frequently stopped to take photos of the wonderful scenery and ate our sandwiches sat on one of the plentiful seats just where the river Brora runs into the Loch while watching some fishermen. So peaceful. A marvellous Antidote to the city where we live.
