Our family of four (kids aged 11 and 12) hired Warren to show us the Cape Town peninsula. Warren was extremely knowledgeable and personable! Our full-day tour included Hout Bay and a tour of Seal Island, the Scratch Patch, Simon's Town -- ask Warren to tell you about Nuisance, Boulder Beach with it's colony of penguins, a delicious lunch on the waterfront, the ostrich farm (including a guided tour and feeding the ostriches), the lighthouse at the Cape of Good Hope, and the actual Cape of Good Hope most western point and sign. Warren listened to our ideas of where we'd like to go and made them happen as well as suggested a few other worthwhile stops, which we loved. His vehicle was clean and air conditioned, and he even provided bottles of water for each of us. The tour was the highlight of our weeklong trip to Cape Town. Thanks, Warren!!

Rhodes Memorial

Rhodes Memorial provides amazing views over Rondebosch and the Eastern suburbs of Cape Town. Entrance is free, and the area around the memorial is well suited for hikers, walkers and cyclists. There is a small restaurant for the hungry. Unfortunately the site has recently been affected by vandals, but the main structure remains intact. I would recommend this attraction in combination with a visit to Kirstenbosch.

I have been living in Cape Town for nearly a year but do not drive myself. When my friends came to visit me (desperate to see the Whales), I struggled for options on how to get us there cheaply. (A taxi would be extortionate, as it's quite far out. Yet the Baz bus from my understanding expects you to go far further than Hermanus -so with the Baz bus I think you'd be paying for a trip along the Western Cape - we only wanted a day trip!) Someone mentioned splash bus to me, but couldn't find it on the internet. I'd reluctantly resigned myself to an incredibly pricey day. Until I came upon CapeScot Tours by chance (there and back for R690 -i.e. roughly 40 sterling pounds) and it really was fantastic. It's run but a fun loving, friendly couple. We had a lot of laughs, but they aren't at all intrusive. On request, they took us to a wine farm (which was not en route) without any addition to the price. When we got to Hermanus, my friends and I wanted to do our own thing, so they happily split with us and waited indefinitely until we were done. Both on the way there and on the way back they stopped at the most beautiful photo taking spots and picked us up some complimentary tokens to go on the wheel at the Waterfront. I usually can't be bothered to give reviews unless I really feel inclined. This is a winner. They really did go out of the way to make sure we had fun. Would recommend to anyone.
