Beautiful Hermanus is a South African seaside town that’s a popular whale-watching site. An initial visit to the Old Harbour Museum will acquaint you with the area’s rich fishing history and impress you with a massive exhibit of a whale skeleton. With dozens of area vineyards, Hermanus is a great base for a guided wine tasting tour.

Delicious lunch and dinner options available on weekdays. Menus are planned using only the freshest seasonal produce so the blackboard menu changes regularly. Stop by to see what adventures await you!
This restaurant is charming...olde world cottage with quite a large outdoor Seating area...despite having booked well in advance I was disappointed with the table we were offered with one of us having to face a bare wall.....not really conducive to a good experience...when there are 3 people booked I think it is essential that the party be seated in an area for 4 people, not squashed onto a table meant for 2.....our waitress did not appear to be entirely with it forgetting quite a few of our requests....we were given an Olive Tree appetizer by the chef...black olives stuffed with anchovies and then covered in caramel....definitely an acquired taste and not to my liking....food was OK but not outstanding...altogether a rather disappointing experience and quite expensive for what you got....

Eat is just of the main road as you cross the road from Caledon, Hemel & Aarde..there's a garage at the traffic light..go around it, and at the side of the building where a few other restaurants are, you will find parking and almost hidden away you will find EAT..We had a friendly reception, and because we were early we could sit anywhere.theres tables inside in a cozy corner, a lounge and then outside..a TV for sport lovers and sea breeze..
We had a friendly waiter, and the menu had a variety to choose from..the tables were clean and when we ordered the waiter were so patient..when our food came it was A PLATE OF ART..
We all ordered something different and every plate was tasty and beautifully displayed..it was delicious..We asked for the chef and he came to our table..we complimented him and he really takes pride with what he creates..I really recommend this place for a night out..make sure you book..when we left, people
streamed in, so if you don't book you won't get a table..we went early like about 5 pm.. by 6.30 it became full and we went because our table was booked for supper..just go and enjoy this
highly recommended Restaurant

The Cuckoo Tree was recommended by a friend. It is an intimate, family run restaurant with a lovely garden, hustling with birds, serving fresh and "soulfood" meals. This "Hidden Gem" is frequented by locals, which is always a good sign when eating out, especially in a foreign country. They are open for breakfast, lunch (Mon-Sat) and dinners (Fri&Sat). The restaurant is also available for private functions of about 30 people and have interesting menu options. Cuckoo Tree is fully licensed, with a reasonable wine list. We recommend booking ahead of time to not be disappointed of not been able to get a table.
We had long been told by Hermanus residents and regular visitors to this ever growing seaside resort, that we should head to the centrally situated (thankfully not in one of the many new shopping malls there) ''The Cuckoo Tree" a hugely and deservedly so popular breakfast, coffee and lunch venue. We had a warm welcome, sat inside (although they have an outdoor Terrace, but the wind prevailed), and enjoyed (it was completely full, and that is the norm) the delicious non pretentious food, from good squid to delicious liver, bacon, mash and peas. Good value, great service and a real find in the heart of the town, but on a quiet corner. We will be back, and like many others are so pleased we eventually got to dine there.

We eat at this restaurant each time we visit Hermanus and have never been disappointed .
The food is varied enough to suit all tastes. It is well presented and reasonably priced. There is a 'Specials' board each night. There is a good wine list and craft beers to choose from.
The staff are friendly and have extensive knowledge of all the items listed including how each recipe is prepared and all ingredients of each meal.
The atmosphere is great, there is a real buzz of customers thoroughly enjoying themselves.
Tip: It is advisable to book and request a table by the window which gives fabulous views of Walker Bay.
Certainly a restaurant not to be missed!
