Beautiful Hermanus is a South African seaside town that’s a popular whale-watching site. An initial visit to the Old Harbour Museum will acquaint you with the area’s rich fishing history and impress you with a massive exhibit of a whale skeleton. With dozens of area vineyards, Hermanus is a great base for a guided wine tasting tour.

A very nice walkway over the cliffs riding above the Indian Ocean in Hermanus, quite long and very well paved, a very good and refreshing experience.

Spoilt for chose with 4 hiking trails with varying decrease of intensity and duration with the longest being the Galpin Hut hike which took a 4 1/2 to complete via the Adder Ladder route. A wide variety of fynbos and birdlife with a panoramic view of the Hermanus and Grotto Beach in the distance.

It is a beautiful sandy beach close to town. Quite windy at times but still perfect for chilling. The water is freezing cold but refreshing. Can always see people trying to get into the icy water and have a dip. There's a nature walk behind the beach and I have walked for a few minutes there (had to go back because of our time limit). I definitely want to spend more time there. It provided a totally different scenery from the beach, like a forest. If you have got enough sun on the beach, it's nice to have a walk in the shade!

This is quite a small beach, with rocky areas behind, left and right. To the rear, toilets and changing areas. Could be very busy, I imagine, as he beach is small at high tide.

We were on a private tour for the day and brought here after doing a whale watching tour. We planned to grab a bite to eat here. The different options were explained and we decided to do the 7 course small plate pairing with wines and wow the food was outstanding! The wine was just as delicious. The interior is gorgeous, we sat next to the fire place. The grounds are pretty too. I highly recommend the 7 course experience, the soup and lamb shank were sooooo good! They told me their recipes are on line but I doubt I could present as lovely as they did.

Cape Whale Coast stretches from Rooiels to Pearly Beach. It includes Hangklip, Pringle Bay, Betty's Bay, Kleinmond, Fisherhaven, Hawston, Hermanus, Stanford and Gansbaai.
This whole stretch of coastline from Pringle Bay to past Gansbaai's Pearly Beach, is certainly one of the most picturesque areas along our continent's shoreline and, I would imagine that it would be up there amongst the World's top 10!
The tourist is spoilt for choice here - the proximity of the Mountains so close to the coast, provides opportunities for all sort of activities, as well as offering amazing photo ops. There is a rich biodiversity to be found here and its a foodie heaven of note, with wonderful wines, tasty cheeses and a lot more to please the palate. Another reason to visit is the people - outgoing, helpful, friendly folk - all these factors combine to make an unforgetably delightful holiday experience!
