On the Swiss Riviera, Vevey is perched between Mount PÂlerin and Lake Geneva. Writers, artists and intellectuals have long been attracted to the village: Henry James's "Daisy Miller" is set here (you can still stay at the Hotel des Trois Couronnes) and Charlie Chaplin made nearby Corsier his home. Today, it's the headquarters for Nestl yet retains its old-world charm. To see for yourself, meander the alleys of Old Town, visit the fine art collection at the Muse Jenisch and shop at the weekly market.

A scenographic concept unique in the world. The Manoir retraces the private and public life of this genius of the seventh art. The Studio, a new building of Hollywood inspiration, presents the cinematographic work of one the greatest artists of the 20th century. The four-hectare park showcases hundred-year-old trees beloved by Charlie Chaplin and a breathtaking view of Lake Léman and the Alps.

I have been to many countries, Switzerland is the cleanest, most beautiful and peaceful place I have traveled. The flowers and Gardens, the lakeside walks and the beautiful mountain range around the lake makes this place a must see. Lausanne and Montreux are stunning. If the cost of living was not so high I would live here. Very peaceful lifestyle.

The museum was a great outing to travel the past and show kids that there was a life before iPads and Xboxes. The museum is nicely laid out and kids can even make a few rounds of the games available in the various room. Nice fun had by all.

Spectacular view (see other reviews and photos) with an elevator bringing you to the last floor of the tower at the base of the transmission mast. However the automatic elevator (unattended) has opening hours, is closed on winter (ice falling risk) and also if there's strong wind. Ticket machine accept only coins so have enough with you (5CHF per tour, 3CHF for children).
Special hint: There's a meeting room with the same view just below and it is possible to rent it at Swisscom Broadcast (but high price because it is attended). It's also possible to visit broadcast infrastructure but it must be booked in advance and is for groups.

The doors of one of Europe's most fascinating castle are open to you. This thousand year old historical monument is located in an natural setting on the shores of Lake Geneva in at the foot of the Alps in Switzerland. Individual or groups tours, unaccompanied, guided or with an audioguide are available. Chillon also organises Exhibitions, artistic and popular Performances, as well as Concerts throughout the year. Open all year round (except January 1 and December 25).
We were staying in Geneva and got a combined train ticket and entrance to the castle from Geneva train stations information centre (it is cheaper to do it this way). When you get to Montreaux train station go down the steps (there are signs for the chateau) and cross the road and pick up the bus (can't remember the number) so that you have your back to the lake and it is behind you. The Chateau is only a few stops and you can see it up ahead to know when to get off. It was POURING with rain on the day we visited and sadly couldn't distinguish the lake from the Mountains it was all grey. The inside was a maze with lots of steps and little rooms. Some rooms they had emphasised and others they hadn't really bothered with when they could have - the room with the 13th century painted animals Springs to mind. There could have been more interpretation. You can hire an audio guide for 6sf I suppose if you wanted to know more.

For over 30 years already, the world's first-ever food-themed museum has been sharing a global and independent view of the many aspects of the human diet. Its multidisciplinary, cultural, historical, scientific and nutritional-focused approach and its bold and original programme of activities have established the Alimentarium as the world's leading food-themed attraction. As the centrepiece of the Museum, the new permanent exhibition "Food - The essence of life" invites children and adults alike to take a fresh look at an activity steeped in history and laden with emotional significance: eating. The unique new scenography, combining discovery, experimentation and learning, invites visitors on a fun-filled, interactive journey through three new sectors: Food, Society and The Body. Enlivened with projections, interactive terminals and video installations, this immersive experience will make visitors aware of the influence diet can have on the body and its environment.
Alimentarium is housed in the former headquarters of the Nestlé Group and the Anglo-Swiss Condensed Milk Company, which donated the neo-classical-styled mansion and lands on the waterfront for the museum. Its location is marked by an eight-metre stainless steel fork set in the lake
Inside the museum, we learned about almost everything we could ever want about the world’s food and human diet. In the last exhibit, we had great fun following the journey of what happens to food as it passes through the entire human digestive tract from one end to the other.
A very interesting and informative museum with many interactive displays.

Lakeside and open, even on bad weather days it is lovely down here. The view is incredible and just shows how "clean" and "fresh" Switzerland is. Very nice way to spend an afternoon or a Sunday.
