Of course the blue buildings here are what it is all about and steal the show! The meandering streets make the medina area ideal to wander and take far too many photographs. It’s easy, not crowded and no hassle. Little ones can walk without issue in and around the streets.

Asilah isn't generally considered one of the top spots in Morocco, but it's well, well worth seeing. The medina is truly beautiful. Quieter and prettier than the medinas in the bigger cities. Next to the ocean, the colourful lanes are a delight to wander. Interesting doors, murals, windows; it's a charming spot. There are also shops and cafes, but far less intrusive than other areas.

We have been to the Niagara Falls, Shoshone Falls and Mesa Falls, Yosemite Falls and Akchour Falls. I would say Akchour is one of its kind. The end to end walk from the car park area and back would take 4 to 4.5 hours with normal walking speed. There are few switchbacks and you definitely need a local guide to navigate the way. We got our guide from the hotel we stayed and the guide was very understanding and swift and knew the exact way. You need to cross several streams of river, several grasslands and rocky and pebbles patch too. There is a small Akchour fall you get just after walking for an hour and then after another hour you will reach the main akchor fall. The natural pool of Akchour stands out and the environment is calm as not many people go there in December. It is easier to get as many snaps you want and in varying angles. There is a bench where one can rest. Would recommend carrying snacks as there is only one shop that you find along the way. There are stray dogs on the way but if you bend down as if you are picking a stone, they will go away. It is difficult to imagine the waterfall with the pool if you have not seen one yourself. The photos on the web do not do justice. The only disappointment was the human excreta around the natural pool area. Its tempting to remove shoes and dip your feet into the natural pool but remember you may sight something funny and your experience may dampen. Suggest wearing shoes at all times.

Asilah is Ann amazing little city. All of Morocco thus far has been. Steeped i. Portuguese heritage, the city is white washed and adorned with embellishments of deep marine blue. Go for a walking tour through the historic are and have lunch. Combined with a tour of the outskirts of Tangier, it's a full day trip.

OK ... I'd like to live in the estate house. Being a government employee certainly had its perks in the day. The chateau was supposedly the home of the American amabassador to Morocco at the time it was built. A quick stop on the way to Cap Spartel, the Herculean Caves, and Asilah.

The lighthouse itself is beautiful, having been recently restored. But the reason to go is to see the amazing views of the Atlantic/Med, including the waves crashing into the rocky shoreline. You can't go up into the lighthouse, which was disappointing. There is free parking and a small number of merchants in the parking lot. Definitely worth a short visit.

The museum is situated in the center of the Kasbah and has a nice collection of artifacts. It starts with the archaeological discoveries, then the pre-Roman civilization, artifacts tracing the Islamization of the region and the importance of trade between Tingitane Penninsula and other Mediterranean civilizations. The Moroccan- Andalusian style garden includes a beautiful Fountain. Like most of Morocco, they did not have information in English but we got a small brochure with some information on the museum.
