Outstanding town, outstanding sites. Really nice visit to a really nice community. We had a wonderful afternoon exploring the sites around the abbey and the monastery Would highly recommend seeing it in the summer as the grounds look amazing in the winter and you can tell it would be incredible in the summer with all the flowers and herbs in bloom.

This is one of the best wildlife centers I have ever visited. There are very large enclosures in interesting designs. The animals are noticeably content in their green and leafy environment. They were active and alert. The coats of the wild cats, for example, were shiny and lush. While not comprehensive in the variety of species, the quality of the enclosures made it exceptional. Some of the species includes buffalo, elk, wild cats, wild pigs, tree climbing raccoons, and an extensive bird collection. The park like setting in a wooded area adds to the enjoyment. Refreshments are available. A great place to spend a day in the outdoors.

We walked around here on a wintery afternoon - thin ice on the lake and Sunshine made everything sparkle. The park designers put in some good viewing points around the park - e.g. you can see the palace in Aschaffenburg. The park is kept very clean and tidy. There is a great playground for the kids to enjoy. Would like to return to see the spring flowers!

This was by far the most disgusting public pool I have ever been to. It was super crowded on a summer weekday and there was urine smell in the changing rooms. Many door locks were broken. People everywhere - crowded! The place definitely needs some renovation and more cleaning. Disgusting. Wouldn't recommend to anyone.

If you are in Hanau on a Wednesday or Saturday it's really recommended to visit the Open Air market right in the center town of Hanau at the Gebrüder Grimm Monument. If you come by car you will find parking space in the underground parking garage right under the market. The market is open from 9:00 am (or even earlier) up to 2:00 pm. Everything is VERY fresh. Many BIO Products available. Get impressed by the nice flowers, the fruit and vegetables or the food kiosks there. Fresh meat and cheese products, bakery, Pizza, etc. Everything is clean and hygienic.
It's just a MUST to see this market and having a snack while you are in Hanau.
For people who are looking for great bargains. Come just a few minutes before 2:00 pm. The sellers won't take the fresh fruit back home. They will sell it very cheap, especially when you buy more.
E.g.: Today they sold 1 pack (500 gr.) of strawberries for 2,95 €. When the market closed they offered 2 packs for 3 Euros and even cheaper (only 1 Euro per pack) when you buy 10 packs (5 Kilos).
Save up to 66% and get really fresh stuff. Isn't that a great deal? Huh?

There is a museum attached to the castle grounds. It has a lot of collections of different kinds. But very little explanations in English and hence found it difficult top appreciate. Very nice replicas of the Colosseum and many roman and Italian buildings. Entrance fee is 7 euro per person which includes the admission to the Pompeijanum. The attached church is beautiful. The altar is a highlight of German Renaissance sculpture was made in the 16th century out of alabaster.

It is a Castle next to the beautiful River and very green surrounding . This attraction attracts lots of wedding parties and in a day several weeding reception takes place there. It has reasonable collection of paintings and a café. Is it strictly enforced of no pictures allowed to be taken inside the castle without proper authorization as I was asked by one of the staff to pay 5 euros if I want to take pictures. It is worth visiting as I was lucky enough to have met the Mayor who was smartly casually dressed on Jeans and tie There are parking and public transportation do serve the area..

The statue, Brothers Grim Monument, was centrally located in town center. The statue was placed here to mark the birth of Grim in this little town. City hall was behind the statue while there were many shops, restaurants and cafes around. Visitors would find this place lively because of the new shopping malls around the area.
