Had a great relaxing holiday in this hotel and the staff are so friendly.
The entertainment in the evening was very good, they work so hard.
Food was good with several restaurants to choose from.
Just a short walk to the sister hotel which all guests can use and a short stroll to the most stunning long sandy beach and brilliant to swim in.

During our 1-day trip to Porto Santo we visited this amazing creation of nature. There is an infor board, in 5 languages, explaining how it was formed. It was also used as quarry and the rocks were used for construction and public works.
We went there by our rented car - the road was good except the last half a kilometer section which was gravel and dirt. Also the Googlemaps directions were very accurate. It can be reached on foot too (not very steep slope). Most of the island is visible from the top

We went on a bus tour of the island and stopped here for photographs etc. The views down to the beach and over the island are stunning. It highlights how barren and brown Porto Santo is compared to Madeira, but it still has its good points, as Madeira doesn't have any natural sand at all. It's worth a trip up to this viewpoint - it's quite breathtaking.

Go to pico Castelo viewpoint but dont stop at the car parking lot! Continue walking/hiking the stairs and paths all the way up next to a little house. From the top, top: the view is really fantastic in almost all 360 degrees!! Good for casual walker, just take you time!

Quinta das Palmeiras is a botanical mini -zoo and mini - garden, which offers its visitors some bird species and a variety of lush plants in a covered area of 5380 m2 . This Thursday generates a sudden patch of green in a dry area west of the airport , and results from Carlos Afonso vision. The oasis that it results is a refuge for many plants and many birds who live in freedom
We stopped here as part of our bus tour of the island. It is a beautiful little mini zoo/botanical garden hidden away behind a wall. There are friendly parrots and little coloured birds (some in cages, some have escaped!) A little bridge with a stream containing Koi Carp is lovely. It is so peaceful and warm here, we could have stayed for hours! It has a little bar and the payment for drinks goes towards the upkeep of the animals, plus a tip if you feel like it. There is plenty of parking space too. Just perfect.

Ponta da Calheta is the southernmost tip of the island of Porto Santo. You can walk or bicycle out here from Vila Baliera, or perhaps take the local bus. The restaurant plays music with a retro-groove and it's and excellent place to sit and do nothing for an hour or two. You have a great view to Ilhéu da Cal and the turmoil of the waters between the two Islands. Ponta da Calheta is also the starting point (or end) of the beach that stretches for kilometres all the way to Vila Baleira. Interesting rocks for people with thing for geology.

Inland sand dunes like something out of a science fiction movie. The dunes are inland which is do unexpected you can see fossilised critters and lines in the sand which make it look like rock formations but it crumbles when you touch it. Really interesting
