Really disappointing as had read great reviews. It was freezing cold, there was a fan heater near the table. Poor choice of drinks and when the food arrived it was inedible. It looked more like a risotto than a curry and it tasted foul. pushed the chicken to one side and ate the naan bread instead. I was starving when I went in and sadly was both starving and angry when I came out. Cant believe I actually paid for it, I should have said something but wasn't really given the opportunity. I won't be back. I have never in my life failed to clear a curry so this was a fist !!

Siam Garden is a fine dining restaurant with buffet available on Monday nights. Express and set lunch available on Friday - Saturday (Closed on Sunday). The restaurant is set in a beautiful garden with a lovely fish pond.
We don't get to Grantham very often so consequently it had been over two years since we had eaten at Siam Garden, a Thai restaurant there. What we remembered was that we enjoyed the food that last time, that the service was excellent and that the overall experience was something to elicit praise about. Unfortunately, following our visit there this week, we have no praise for them this time! Why the change in our opinion? Let me explain. They changed hands and the new owners have let standards slip dramatically and although others have commented upon the recent situation, the owners do not seem motivated to act on criticism and to improve.
We ate there last Monday, eating their buffet menu for £13.50 each. It was supposed to start at 5.30 so when we entered at 5.50, we thought that everything would be ready - we were wrong! Labels for the food in place but about four empty spaces where it should have been. It couldn't have finished already as a small number of diners seated. So no fish dish, no vegetarian option and one other empty space, for the dessert.
Anyway, tried the starters, nothing exciting and went back for the main dishes - those three spaces still not filled. Tried again in about ten minutes and the fish was just appearing, about 45 mins after the buffet started but then they probably had difficulty catching it in the river! Even as we stood there, the banana dessert was brought in, a miracle! The mixed vegetable dish never appeared, evidently lost in a black hole somewhere across the universe!
So was the food any good? Well simply.....no! Very poor and at best, very ordinary. We have eaten excellent Thai dishes both here and in Thailand and some of this buffet was extremely disappointing, watery, tasteless and seemingly thrown together with little thought. Why all the dishes were not ready at the start is a mystery. My wife is a fan of fish dishes and vegetable ones so she was very displeased at the lack of the vegetarian option and the fish turning up when she was eating the dessert. Oh, and the dessert. It was half cooked banana chunks in a gruel-like sweet coconut milk, probably straight out of a big can.
Perhaps the service was a redeeming factor. Apart from one lady, the others servers were quite unfriendly so that was also not good. Might we go back. Not until they change hands again and things improve remarkably.
Not to be recommended.

We booked after an internet search from Essex so had little idea what to expect. We were amazed at the quality of the food, the relaxed yet efficient atmosphere. There was a wonderful buzz in the restaurant and we all enjoyed ourselves even after a 4 hour drive! Not eating red meat often I decided to risk the steak. It was cooked to perfection and so tender that it melted in my mouth. My only regret is that we don't live closer because I would love to go back and try another of their tempting dishes.

Family run pub/restaurant with farm shop and bed and breakfast set in the lincolnshire countryside with a large garden and terraced area
We saw this on the TVs programme Four In A Bed and as we were visiting places in the area decided to book in for an evening meal and B&B. We were not disappointed. The hosts were very welcoming, the room was clean and comfortable and both dinner and breakfast were really good. Definitely recommended.

Cosy, warm and friendly local pub with great home cooked food. Families, pets and group bookings welcome.
This pub was a very lucky find for us and the previous reviews were very accurate! Excellent service - very friendly too- and delicious (better than average) pub food - very good quality and extremely well presented. Surroundings are very relaxed and a quintessential English pub with beams and cosy Seating. The brisket was AMAZING! We shall be back to try the rest of the menu

The Stag at Barkston is an Archetypal country pub, off set from the A607 outside of Grantham in rural lincolnshire. It offers classic country charm with its wood beams, slate floors and listed heritage. while offering great value locally sourced menus written and cooked by award winning chef Mike Loveridge. close to belton house, belton woods and wagtail park it is a perfect example of rural life.
Had Saturday lunch here with friends. Between us we tried the venison steak, fish and chips, and a pie. All excellent and they were able to swap chips for salad too with no fuss.
Deserts were equally good as was the coffee.
Good service and set in a lovely village. Perfect for after a visit to Belton House which is close by.
We will definitely return when next in the area.

Excellent menu. Staff very friendly and helpful. Dessert and cake choices are the best I've ever come across. Ham salad was perfect choice with plentiful delicious ham and super salad without being laced in a dressing like most establishments.
Roast Pork looked very well presented and fresh. Restaurant was full again but served efficiently. Highly recommend a visit
