Confiserie Mignon

Set against the sea on one side and grand old residences on the other, this is a perfect place to stroll and people-watch. We stopped on one of the benches and read for a couple hours. Well, actually, we read some and gazed some. Felt refreshed afterwards.

Musee des Marais Salants

A museum well worth its salt ! This original and colourful world a unique opportunity to combine a feast for the eyes with the discovery of a region and its heritage steeped in the history of salt.

Reviewed By alis0n1604 - Cheshire

A lot more interesting than you might expect a "Salt Museum" to be! We had seen the salt flats which surround this area, as well as the salt on sale everywhere and wondered how it was produced. The museum collection is very well put together, covering different production methods from around the world and is very informative. I was pleased to see that my part of the world (Cheshire, UK) was included on the map of salt areas of the world! I especially liked the films (many with English subtitles) and the section on the way of life of the salt workers.

Les Halles de Pornichet

Reviewed By jacquesto - Pornichet, France

Unless you have searched to buy fresh seafood at retail, you wouldn't know how extraordinary it is to find a display of seafood like this. Fresh oysters are a luxury. At this market there are 5 different vendors bringing oysters from different source waters: to the north, to the south, and from deeper in the sea. Besides the shellfish, there are about 6 other fish vendors, each of whom marks the source of the catch alongside the fish. In addition, there are a couple of high quality charcuterie and fresh produce vendors in the "halles" every day.
