We have just had the most wonderful celebratory dinner at the Kingsway. A favourite place for a number of years, but visited infrequently as no longer live in the area but visit family. It is without doubt the best food in Cleethorpes. Staff are wonderful. You are made to feel special and staff are very attentive without being over bearing or intrusive. Decor is very stylish and a blend of old and new.
The dinner menu offered was fixed price with no less than 7 starters and 9 main courses. Something for everyone- vegetarian option and three fish main courses. Main courses served with a selection of fresh vegetables- one of the few restaurants locally that still offers silver service at table as oppsed to a plated meal. Difficult to single out any specific dish as all food was excellent. However the creme brulee topped with toasted almonds was exceptional. Quality ingredients and food very well presented on plate. Considered to be good value at £25 for 2 courses and £30 for 3, with no surcharge for steak or cheese board which is often a feature in many other restaurants offering a fixed price menu. Dinner was concluded with coffee and mints in the lounge. A very memorable meal which was very special to us. Many thanks to all at The Kingsway.

abbys always does great taste, both in our decor and on our menus. Our restaurant and function room brings together the finest ingredients – seafood landed little more than a mile away at Grimsby’s fishdocks; meat, cheese and vegetables sourced from caring local producers – add our own blend of magic, and serve it in fashionably elegant surroundings. That makes the perfect recipe for whatever you need, from a simple lunch ‘on the go’ to a business conference or a stylish and intimate dinner for two. And having two elegant and contemporary venues together under one roof makes abbys the perfect place for every kind of social or business function.
I always feel that this place could be better. It is a popular lunch venue and well sited in the "twee" Abbeygate precinct ... but the food and atmosphere can be a little flat. The inadequate cooking smells extraction does not help and follows you around for days ... the only lingering memory sometimes. That is not to say that it is not good ...just could be better ... if the owners and chefs cared about their clients just a little more. It is the variation in standards that is galling ... sometimes excellent ... often average ... but you will always leave with more than you came with.

An Upmarket fish and chip restaurant with an interested owner, we are also committed to people with disabilities - no steps or ramps, disabled toilet with alarm and room around the tables for back to back wheelchairs.
We went here recently and were given a table in the corner by the toilets. The fish was good, nicely cooked, although I would not describe the jumbo portion a jumbo, I didn’t think it was that big. The main negative was that it was so cold in that corner by the toilets (it was freezing outside too)

Situated in the heart of Grimsby, Othello has built a reputation for providing an outstanding dining experience. Othello was opened in the early 1970's and quickly became famous due to its authentic Greek and international cuisine, ambient atmosphere and high standards of service. Our menu offers a range of traditional Greek Cypriot dishes together with a selection of classic dishes cooked on our open charcoal grill. We open Monday to Saturday lunch time from 12:00 - 2pm and evening from 6pm - 10pm (last order in the kitchen)
A blast from the 80's ? Definitely and I don't mean in a good way.
The bad points- slow in taking our order, presentation of food very poor (white toast and chopped up salad with pate???), veg and oven chips dished up by the waitress (how old are we?), restaurant lights way too bright, a gin and tonic served in a heavy pint sized glass and no product knowledge of the correct accompaniments, porterhouse steak poor quality and cooked like shoe leather, very over priced, stairs and toilets smelled fusty.
The good points- fillet steak cooked to perfection, staff pleasant, food served quickly.
The prices do not reflect the product- staff should know how to serve drinks, what glasses look good, what accompaniments are expected, presentation of food was lacking and literally like the 80's. I wouldn't have been surprised if sherry trifle was on the menu. Won't be going back, too many better restaurants in Grimsby.

A little late getting round to posting this but well deserved. Not the first time I’ve dined at figs, I have been regularly and honestly have never been disappointed, valentines didn’t fail to impress either! Set menu but simply beautiful food and setting very cosy.
I had the pork belly with lightly battered cod as did my partner and both really enjoyed this dish. We started with the Camembert and ciabatta which was perfectly complimented with a touch of fennel and a lovely jam/chutney. Very generous portions despite looking tidy on the plate, we just about managed desert each and walked home full and very satisfied. Would like next visit to figs to sample the afternoon tea as I’ve heard all good things, well recommended.

This is rated one of the best places to go for fish and chips and it was good. It's a little pricey but the portions are good as is the service. Nice comfy Seating too.

Had a walk up the Promenade in Cleethorpes last night looking g for somewhere to eat. Valerie's looked about the liveliest place open. Called in and whilst they had no tables available they took pity on my bedraggled state and said I could eat at the end of the bar.
So glad I accepted this offer. The food, service, atmosphere, staff and all round experience was fabulous.
Thanks to all at Valerie's, I ll be back!

Met up with my 2 sisters and 2 nieces for lunch. Had chicken mayo Sandwich. Plenty of filling in the Sandwich and service was reasonably quick for a busy lunch time. Small gripe is that the hot drinks could have been hotter.
Everyone else seemed reasonably happy with their meals.
Would go again

Decided to take the wife to the Notts for lunch. We both had the Cajun chicken breast burger with halloumi and homemade chips. The Cajun chicken was very tasty and juicy, homemade chips was great! You also got an onion ring and some side salad, but I'm a bit of a salad dodger so never touched that although it did look nice. Service was great! the young girl was very attentive. Would definitely return and highly recommend! 5 stars from myself and the wife.
