The entrance to the Muizenberg office is on the main road through town, you then meet your instructor , and carry your board under the railway line to the beach. Our daughter had a private lesson with Amber, who was very patient and encouraging. Daughter loved it and cant wait to return on our next visit. The surf that end of Muizenberg beach is usually pretty gentle making it great for beginners.

Casa Labia, the former private home of the late Count Labia is a truly opulent, Art Deco style house on the edge of Muizenberg. It is absolutely beautiful with its high ceilings & original Italian chandeliers; beautiful Italian furniture & carpets & huge windows which look out over the False Bay coastline where you can literally see "forever"......
The house has a restaurant which is well worth visiting. Staff are charming. Well worth a visit.....

Cape Town is the perfect place to explore the incredible world below the waves without the need for artificial breathing devices! Cape Town offers an incredible mix of freediving opportunities from seal and shark fun freedives to depth training in Freshwater lakes and even some world-class swimming pools. We are a professional Pure Apnea certified dive centre and provide a full range of courses.
John and Daniela are two of the most down to earth (or is that seabed?) and approachable instructors you'll meet. Knowledgeable, patient and passionate - you'll soon find yourself far exceeding what you thought your body was capable of. I thoroughly enjoyed the course and would highly recommend it to all surfers, regardless of ability. The course covers some vital safety elements as well as practical techniques on staying calm and in control while pushing your own limits. If you want to be a more confident, capable surfer - do this course.

The Corner Surf Shop is the oldest surf shop in South Africa.Opened in 1971, we are a core surf store stocking the essentials. From quality local and imported surfboards, skateboard gear and apparel, a wide range of top shelf wetsuits, a huge range of bikinis and a vast selection of trendy clothing. We also have a large collection of vintage surfboards in our own little 'museum'.
I have driven past this shop for years but, not being a surfer, I have had no occasion to visit it . That's where I was wrong - what a beautiful selection of swimwear, very modern and different. My daughter in law found just what she was looking for. Efficient friendly assistant knew her stuff as well.
The memorabilia and history of Surfing displayed in this shop would also interest surfers, old and young.

This lesser known road curls around the Muizenberg-Kalk Bay Mountains, elevated several dozen metres above the main road, and offering spectacular vistas of False Bay. The road is approximately 8 km long and offers parking spaces along the sides in all but the narrowest areas. Coming from cape Town alog the M4 Main Road, turn off onto Boyes drive and glide upwards along the mountain, with a panoramic view of Lakeside. This first stretch of road offers ample parking and a short stop is highly recommended, to take in the magnificence of the fresh water lakes on the flat land below. Drive uphil and watch the scenery change as the ocean becomes more prominent, adding to the depth of colour offered by this drive. Soon you will approach a hilly section of the road with houses on either side, and no views. As you hurry towards the summit of the road, the vistas open up again and the sense of anticipation is soon justified by some of the most majestic scenery in Cape Town. Table Bay presents itself, surrounding by Mountains near and far, Muizenberg beach lies before you stretching for endless kilometres all the way to Gordons Bay. Binoculars are a good idea to view this magnificent sandy beach, home to surfers, swimmers, windsurfers and fishermen. On Boyes drive itself you will find the Sharkspotters, who scan the bay almost daily for great whites, potentially dangerous for increasing numbers of bathers ; shark spotters are generally happy to talk about their work. The main road and railway line appear in miniature form from the heights of Boyes drive, hinting at further sights along the road. The road then winds along towards Kalk Bay, which appears in postcard picture form as you bounce along the curvy road. This is yet another good place to stop and capture photographs of this quaint fishing village, which lures you to the end of the road. Boyes Drive is often skipped by larger tourist busses because they are not as easily accommodated. The road is however, suitable for smaller vehicles and is on the way to other attractions along the South Peninsula (penguin colony, Cape Point, Simonstown). While the M4 Main road is also pleasant, Boyes drive offers a significantly more pleasing experience, less traffic and the Prospect of enjoying some of the most beautiful views in the world.
