Established in 2001, Tony's is one of Johannesburg's most popular restaurants. A South African restaurant with strong Italian influences, we serve delicious al'fresco style meals ranging from antipasti, salads, pizza and pasta, to tasty meat and seafood dishes. Our modern and spacious double volume restaurant, with a wide Terrace on two sides, is the perfect spot for socializing and enjoying great food. Owner Tony, has been in the restaurant industry for over 20 years, and believes that Italian cuisine offers the broadest spectrum for innovation. At Tony's, life is delicious!!
We stopped for a light meal and had the creamy chicken livers and the calamari and we were not disappointed at all. But Shepherd was not the ideal waiter at all. He didnt bother introducing himself to us, would leave drinks, food and bill on the...MoreThank you for your feedback. We will definitely help Shepard improve his skills.

We've always enjoyed Plaka restaurant, but felt that the food quality at Eastgate surpassed the Cresta location. It's caught up!!!! We've been to the Cresta branch twice this week for lunch and enjoyed both times greatly. Our favorite dish is the meze vegatable platter for...MoreHi Africanaddict, thank you for your excellent feedback and great review. We're glad to hear that Plaka Cresta surpassed your expectations and that you enjoyed the food and service. We look forward to welcoming you back!

An excellent restaurant. I had hake which was delicious and the amount was fantastic. If I had Known how much fish I would have I may have missed the superb calamari I had for starter. The meal for two including aperatifs and a bottle of Sauvignon cost about £35. Great value. Setting and ambiance also excellent.

Run by the Da Cunha Family.
I have reviewed Parreirinha before and now that I live in Midrand I sometimes wonder why a person would drive all the way to the South of Joburg to have a meal but when the food arrives you just know it was worth the great trek. We normally have the 12 prawns but decided to order a seafood platter for 2. At R425 it is really great value, 2 small crayfish, 12 prawns, kingklip, calamari, some small shellfish, rice and chips. All cooked under the watchful eye of the mama in the kitchen. Service as usual was tops. Area is not great but they have security outside.

Booked this venue to celebrate two birthdays. Even though it was very full, there is more than enough space, so it doesn't feel cramped. Lots of activities to keep the kids busy, also some farm animals to feed.
Food was not bad. All in all our afternoon was very enjoyable.

Sakhumzi Restaurant is located in Soweto - the largest black township in South Africa. Vilakazi Street, the tourist Mecca of Soweto, is where Sakhumzi opens its doors to anyone and everyone - from locals, to tourists and even corporate groups. Sakhumzi is a restaurant with true 'kasi' flavour. Kasi, meaning township - a vibrant community welcoming everyone in for lively local tunes and authentic home cooked Soweto food!
Having enjoyed a 3 hour escorted tour of Soweto culminating in a visit to Nelson Mandela's home pre & post incarceration, we rounded things off with lunch at a 'typical (?) Sowetan eatery. Certainly there was a vibe about the place and the food was...MoreThank you so much for such a great message.

If you're looking for a no-frills, cozy pub lunch with hearty and tasty fare, look no further. Head for Gordon Road off the N1 towards Ontdekkers and just before the junction you'll find this unpretentious gem.
There used to be a Founders in Cresta years ago, but that succumbed to modernity and fast food chains. Pity, but commercial realities are like that.
Don't expect starched napery and heavy fake cutlery. Simple sit-down at tables or benches outside if your that way inclined. Gordon Road is busy, so unless you don't fret about noise and fumes it can be better inside. Except of course that the music (?) can be overpowering if you don't ask them to turn it down or even off. The staff are friendly, obliging and understanding of one's foibles.
But get down to the food - salads, steak, ribs, oxtail, pies - every imaginable pub fare, far too much to sample in one go. We had ribs, ox tail and fillet - all perfect, with veggies and chips (real chips without funny stuff on it!) - sauces to drool over and and too many to remember. But leave some space for desert, or try one of their real Irish Coffees if you're not the designated driver.
Gone are the days when one could get a pub lunch for under R200 (about 15-20 Euros or Dollars at today's tourist exchange rates) but the specials go for as little as a third of that. But then who wants bad food in a swanky place at three times the price?
I'll hitch a ride on this one again when the opportunity comes along!

Off the beaten track, odd decor, excellent service, great bonhomie from tbe hosts, authentic and supremely delicious French fare. Really enjoyed our first visit, after hearing great things, and will certainly go again.

I love this place. The food is good. Great coffee and cake. Staff is friendly. Staff just need to pay more attention to the customers. Customers have to wave the hands around to get the waiters attention. Why is nobody watching the floor. Come on guys. Your food is great. Please do something about your floor attention.
