You will be able to book accommodations and excursions, use the internet and have some refreshments. Relax and enjoy our beautiful building and grounds. You are welcome!
Nice clean restrooms, and a very knowledgeable staff. They have some very nice displays of wildlife. Refreshments are available.

This large scenic park and Wilderness area contains five major lakes, two river systems, many small lakes, streams, Waterfalls and rapids, which make this an outdoor recreation paradise.
For peace and quiet things could not be any better than here. No trains, no planes and very little road noise, just the odd chipmunk and the gentle flow of the river. The campground maps are very deceiving. First of all the two campgrounds (Clearwater and Falls Creek) are right next to each other and joined by a bridge. In the Clearwater campground you cannot book the best sites which are along the river (in the 17-26 block) as these are the first come, first served. This is strange as surely these sites should be for the people who bother to book ahead! All the sites are quite spacious and relatively level with large heavy picnic tables and fire pits which we couldn’t use owing to the risk of fires at this time. This is probably not a bad idea as they had a big storm in May and so the forest still has a lot of fallen trees (200+) and big roots out of the ground. The sites are private and well maintained as are the toilets. There are also a few cabins that look quite cute and would be fun to camp in. The only downside to the campground is the 23 kilometre drive along a gravel road but it wasn't too dusty just very very bumpy. I think if we came again I would pick the Falls Creek campground and one of the sites along the river which for some reason can be booked ahead or maybe try one of the campgrounds where the road is paved.

This was worth the walk but watch out for the mosquitoes. A pleasant hike to get to the falls but the last part down the steps is probably not suitable for small children. Actually not that well signed but you can’t go too far wrong.

This fall was my favourite and is very loud. It has a devils cauldron feel to it and it's great to watch. You can hike through the woods to the side of the falls and get down to a small rocky area where better photo opportunities can be had .

These falls are the first one you reach when driving in wells gray. There is a huge parking lot, with a stand selling Belgian ice cream and hot dogs.
A short 10 minute walk from the car park leads to a jaw dropping gorge. Like the earth just caves open and disappears from beneath you. The drop is so spectacular , you feel chills just trying to take a photo.
The falls themselves are ok, the other ones in wells gray are better, but it is the overall setting which gives it a very eerie atmosphere.

We had just spent a couple of days in Wells Gray Provincial Park and dropped into North Thompson River Provincial Park for lunch. It was such a pretty place with a great picnic area beside the river where we had lunch. We had the added good fortune to see a deer with her fawn. We only wished that we would have had the time to stay there the night.

When you're in the North Thompson, be sure to visit our library! We have free wifi and internet access. Printing and copying is also available for a cost per page. A variety of free programming is offered all year - check the web site for details.
Family was arriving from the lower Mainland. Young children sometimes might need a distraction! Prior to their arrival I headed for the library to pick up enough books to suit the young visitors 'bed-time' story requirements and any 'entertainment videos' necessary for evening entertainment after a day of hiking or swimming. This is an excellent option for us 'older crowd' as we can return these items several times during an extended visit if it should rain for example.I also found out that this library is associated with other interior Libraries - and therefore if one of the books would have accidentally gotten into the car - it could have been returned on the way home, and that is always a concern!

Clearwater is a small town that would seem to have built up as an overnight stop on the busy road and also as the entrance to Wells Gray Park. It has loads of accomodation and eating establishments and a really good information centre. A very clean open town with everything within easy walking distance.
