Međugorje, or Medjugorje, (Serbo-Croatian pronunciation: [mêdʑuɡoːrje]) is a town located in the Herzegovina region of Bosnia and Herzegovina, around 25 km (16 mi) southwest of Mostar and close to the border of Croatia. The town is part of the municipality of Čitluk. Since 1981, it has become a popular site of Catholic pilgrimage due to reports of alleged apparitions of the Virgin Mary to six local children.

The start of the climb to Cross Mountain is a €5 fare from the centre of Međugorje. You can walk to start the climb. It will take you 20-30mins.
The climb itself is a challenge for most. Good footwear is advisable unless you decide to be brave enough and climb barefooted! Ensure you take water with you especially if it is warm and sunny. Wearing a cap to protect from strong summer Sunshine is advisable.
There is an opportunity to pray at the various ‘Stations of the Cross’ along the climb. This provides for multiple rest opportunities along the climb. You will have to deal with many other climbers as individual or groups and these will impact your climb. Take time as you find your best footing.
Reaching the top one has a feeling of achievement. There are good views to be taken in as you take a well earned rest from the climb. You have time to reflect on life and your own personal journey. There is plenty of space to sit and take in the views. This is a very spiritual place and a peaceful part of our sometimes mad world.
Enjoy this experience.

This is a tour of the beautiful and sacred city of Medjugorje, with visits to all the main attractions, including guided orientation tour.Visit Apparition Hill, St.James Church, the outside Altar.
My teenage daughter and I were staying in Split and wanted to visit Medjugorje and Mostar but didn't want to join a large organised tour. Thankfully, Zana and Philip and our guide Ivanka ? made our visit very special. We organised it by email and were collected at our arranged meeting point and arrived in Medjugorje in time for Mass, then our guide met us and took us to Apparition Hill and brought us back again to the main centre of the town. We then travelled onto Mostar where we had free time to visit this ancient place and its tiny cobbled network of streets. Phillip our driver was very friendly and was happy to stop at a petrol station if we needed to stop for a break on what was about a two hour journey in a very comfortable car. We were also able to buy souvenirs at a discounted rate in the small office / shop in Medjugorje. Thank you Philip thank you Zana you made our day very special and memorable. Tip; bring trainers or good footwear for the rocky path to the apparition site...

Visiting the main square was the highlight. Masses are held in so many languages you are sure to find one you can understand. The shops and cafes offer great products and service and the information center staff are friendly and helpful. An amazing place for spiritual rest.

This was a dirt-poor small village until some local kids in 1981 claimed to have seen the Virgin Mary. Since then, a tacky and ugly small town of hastily erected hotels and restaurants, various so-called 'sacred sites', a very ugly church, massive 'confession' factories, countless souvenir shops peddling Chines-made Mary statues, and the usual crowd of misguided miracle-seekers turned it into a dusty Balkans version of Lourdes. In reality, there is really nothing worth seeing here - no monuments, no history, no great scenery, just an assemblage of commercial establishments dedicated to ripping off the gullible visitors. To its credit, the Vatican so far classified these alleged 'miracles' as not proven, but this does not seem to deter the pilgrims. No sane person could believe what is claimed here; the most obvious give-away is the extreme vacuity and banality of the Messages claimed to be handed down by the Virgin - tantalising promises of 'ten secrets' to be revealed, suggestions to using the rosary (which didn't even exist in biblical times), and encouragements of love and piety in this sinful world. Frankly, if this is all she came down to reveal, the journey was obviously wasted... On balance, unless you inisist on believing all this nonsense, there is no reason to come here at all - visit the region's truly interesting and fsacinating historical and scenic sites instead!

While I was planning my individual trip to Medjugorje I searched for some agency which could provide me transfer from Split airport to Medjugorje.
I have found this agency specialized for that work. I made booking of reverse transfer.
The driver was waiting me at the time and he was very kind. The car was comfortable. It was really low cost transfer.
I could say that I am satisfied with service

We shopped here during our stay, and was pleasantly surprised with the shops here. It's worth a visit, just a few euro from the town centre.
