Hi I went out with friends to the zDenniston Dog on Thursday night. We had a wonderful meal. Very tasty two of us had the Lamb Cutlets the other having the Special Patties ,we all enjoyed the meal. A great Atmosphere and the service was great. The visitors were from out of Town and said they will certainly return.

It took us a little while to try Whanake coffee but now it's all we drink! Every. Single. Day.! My coffee machine is gathering dust!
They are open each day (thank goodness) and their hours suit morning and afternoon coffee, tea, hot chocolate or whatever your cup of choice may be, drinkers!
Whanake lattes are the best I have ever had ... seriously!

The Bay House has a unique coastal location giving a sense of escape to somewhere close to paradise. Overlooking the Tasman surf, The Bay House is one of New Zealand's most picturesque dining environments offering a range of options for guests. Open from November to May, we offer casual lunches from 11.30am to 3pm and evening dining (Dec to March) from 5.30pm to 8pm. With stunning waterfront views from almost all tables on the premises and seasonal New Zealand style cuisine, the iconic Bay House is a true destination for all in search of a memorable dining experience in a world class location. PARKING NOTE: We are situated at the edge of Tauranga Bay on a single lane No Exit road with 5 carparks below restaurant. There is a turnaround bay at the end of this No Exit road however this narrow road is not suitable for buses and large campervans. Cars can park on one side of this lane (sea side) however we recommend the large Public Carpark 50metres before The Bay House.
Closed some days, check first, and book, if possible for this experience, at end of bay road. Put it on your bucket list. Lovely presented food

This pub/restaurant is full of character and charm. A varied menu and good quality food was served. I ordered the crumbed scallops which were good but my husband raved about the lamb shank.

Had Sunday lunch at this cafe. Chose food from the cabinet. Two quiches, one with asparagus and be with tomato and feta cheese. Both given an excellent rating. Prompt, efficient service and a pleasant manner from the staff. The citrus slice was chosen by our son and was highly commended. The cake and slice selection was appealing but I had to resist. Coffees were hot. If we were staying longer in Westport we would definitely return.

Gibby's Cafe - the bright green cafe on the corner of Palmerston & Brougham streets. Breakfast menu available all day. Gluten free and vegetarian options available. Come try one of Gibby's famous homemade pies or a world famous West Coast whitebait pattie. Plenty of fresh homemade baking to choose from in our cabinet selection to go with one of our delicious hot coffees made to your liking! For a great fruit and vege health kick, refuel with one of our freshly squeezed jucies! . Smoothies, thickshakes and milkshakes all come in a range of flavours. Lots of food options available in our cabinets as well as a Takeaway menu.
from the outside it looks like any other cafe, but it's what's on the plate that counts and this popular cafe delivers on that.
Home made, not reheated, foods that strike a right note.
Not the cheapest in town, (by a long chalk), but worth it

With a wide selection of fresh homemade food and a choice of drinks available, there is something to tempt all appetites. We have a selection of accommodation available ranging from simple backpackers to comfortable double rooms. Also low budget tent and power sites available.
We stopped on our way to the West coast. The staff is friendly, the food was good and there's a pig and dog for the kids to play with. Absolutely worth a visit

Sat on the front af Carters Beach this restaurant has a prime location with great views along the coast. We stopped here for lunch and were intially served by a very pleasent lady at the bar who took out order.
Unfortunately the rest of the service and the food we were served did not match up to the scenery.
The knives and forks are served wrapped in a serviette. Unfortunately what ever is used to secure the pack together meant I could only get them out of the pack by tearing the serviette. Useless.
My "Main" of Green Lipped Mussels and Garlic Bread was starter size. Seven rather over cooked green lipped mussels drizzled in a coconut sauce does not come up to normal NZ standards for quantity or quality. In the UK or Spain this sized dish would be considered a starter at best. And NZ is the Green Lipped Mussel centre of the World.
My wifes rather small "Main" portion of "fresh fish and chips" was a childs sized portion at best. Again not what we have come to expect nor have previously been served in restaurants throughout NZ in this our second visit to the country, and certainly not from a restaurant next door to a fishing port. Not Good I am sorry to say.
No water was offered to us by the waiter who scurried off after serving the food, never to return to the table to check on how our food was or if we required anything more. He needs some training.
All in all a meal to forget. If you have the option, dine elsewhere and do not waste your money.
