This is a very old castle located in the town of Modling which is accessible as a day trip from Vienna. There are gypsum underground mines near by and one can combine these two spots together. From the main road one should take a pebble path for a scenic view while ascending this castle. Nearby is a hotel where one can stay as well. The fields around the castle are good to see and there is a small cafe inside the castle. The overall venue is beautiful and romantic.

In the middle of the new area, this “hidden” mall (at least if you walk from the residential area) offers you everything you need without the need to drive to the city. The mall is very “familiar” and secure (children can wander around unattended)...so definitely a place to go with the family for a quick shopping spree...

Glad we took this day tour from
Vienna. Learning about the WWII Historical relevance of this site proved a greater experience than the short boat ride through a dark cavernous lake. It was pretty, but paled in beauty by comparison to other such venues (Greece). The particular use by the Nazis of this place, however, was a worthwhile educational experience.
The walk requires tall folks to stoop quite a bit and others to hold on to the railing, but this site is accessible by all. We are glad we went.

The castle garden of Laxenburg with its huge area, the old castle, the Blauer Hof or Franzensburg castle is one of the most famous monuments of garden design in Austria. The arrangement today from the 18th and 19th century follows a long tradition since the 13th century.
Schloss Laxenburg was imperial Palaces in the town of Laxenburg, Lower Austria. The Castles became a Habsburg possession in 1333 and formerly served as a summer retreat, the large garden is truly beautiful, favorite place for local people with friends and family, the Castles today are used for events, Concerts museum.

One of the cutest little town I have ever seen. No holds many attractions, but very beautiful and peaceful town not far from Vienna. If you have small time go and view this place. This city has a big park you can make a walk, and if you go up to the Vordergrund get a nice panoramic view over Vienna. Biggest attractions is the Defense-tower and the St. Martin's Church.

Friends were visiting and as they were really interested in Austrian wine, we arranged a wine tasting for them. We started with a little tour of the monastery and ended in the shop area where we tasted a selection of white and red wines. They do not normally include food with the tasting but we chose some items they have on sale so had cheese, cold meat and bread to wash down the tastings. Great value from a highly knowledgeable "guide" and our guests were really delighted. There is a chapel there where you can get married and there are 18 rooms with two suites. There are also conference rooms (discounts on any wines you buy!) and a restaurant too. Lovely setting in the vineyards a stone's throw from Gumpoldskirchen.

The Cultural World Heritage Site of Schönbrunn Palace is Austria's most frequently visited tourist attraction. In the palace the residential and state rooms with their original furnishings and decorations convey an authentic impression of the imperial lifestyle. The park and Gardens surrounding the palace make Schönbrunn in a unique synthesis of Baroque art as well as providing a convenient and highly popular recreational area for Vienna's population.
Maybe I’ve reached an age when I should stay at home but frankly the crowds and their behaviour at this ridiculously opulent palace is akin to the worst type of anti-social behaviour one sees today in our increasingly less civilised tourism trade.
Having said that given that the worst offenders were Russian and Chinese I’m not sure they know how to behave in any event in these situations.
So having been pushed, shoved, whacked with backpacks and cut off a dozen times in 45 minutes we left.
Is it worth seeing.....not really. Not unless you like being trashed by a mob of rude tourists many of whom wouldn’t know how to act with any degree of decorum or politeness to save themselves.

Loved this small museum. Quiet and off the beaten track it was perfect for an interesting visit which did not eat up too much time in our short stay. It was interesting in that it was typical Austrian artefacts from agricultural communities in the main rather than the finest of goods- so lots of tools, household objects, furniture, etc and two beautiful panelled rooms. There was also a collection of painted Easter eggs dating back to 1895. I particularly liked the bee hives carved from tree trunks, the beautiful painted scenes used as practice targets for marksmen and the room devoted to stereotypes which were amusing. I was astonished to find a C19 recognisable baby walker complete with casters all carved in wood. There is a lovely garden and cafe where you can enjoy a drink before you rejoin the bustle of the main attractions in town
