Carss Bush Park

Reviewed By dalton1skiing - London

This place gets busy on weekends with local families having BBQ's, but is quiet during the week. Plently of space to have a picnic, swim in the beach, walk the dog, cycle or let kids play in the play areas. Lost of grassy areas & established trees for shade. There is a small museum with information about the local area, but its only open on Sundays. Also a swimming pool, netted beach & cafe. There is parking along Bunyala St, & also Beach St & Carwar Ave. Its clean & well kept. A hidden gem.

Zippo's Restaurant & Bar

Dropped in to the upstairs bistro after not having been here for a couple of years. The old bowling club bought up by private parties has come a long way. Really enjoyed the specials today. One char grilled calamari with rocket, avocado, onion, dried tomato and pine nuts. The best.. The other meal was mussels in a beautiful napolitano tomato sauce with bread roll. Each meal only $20 and fantastic value dining with a beautiful view of Kyle Bay and the Georges River, great beer on tap and choice house wines all at normal bar prices. So popular, and quite crowded with special birthdays etc and great for kids too but just a little noisy. Will definitely be back here again soon.

Bass and Flinders Cruises

Reviewed By Auntielee_13 - Sydney, Australia

We had a very important reason for getting our mixed families together recently, together with some old friends from New Zealand and Melbourne. After a lot of thought of where to go? what to do? the lunch time river cruise seemed to be the answer. I could not have been more delighted with the courtesy and friendliness of the staff while making the arrangements and then on meeting them at the Wharf. Being December, the theme was "Christmas" with a buffet lunch of prawns, oysters, hot seafood lots of salads and Roast Turkey, Pork and a beautiful Ham.
What a delight it was to cruise gently around Sylvania Waters - looking at all the expensive houses and then further up the Georges River to quiet bays and inlets, seeing different styles of homes and a variety of seabirds. Captain Ian and his crew went out of their way to meet a small request made by the family and found a nice quiet calm bay where we had a small ceremony to celebrate the life of an Aunt who had passed away aged 101.
Thank you all and I highly recommend your cruise and the locals - like myself - should take more of their guests along on this lovely peaceful journey.

Jaitong Thai Massage

Booked for 2, oil massage for an hour. Bliss, totally relaxing and awesome massage!! Got to try out the hot stone massage for the first as well which was different and not bad. Still prefer the oil massage, it's my favourite. Try theThai massage $50 for an hour or the Special Oil Massage mix thai style massage for $79.
If you are cash strapped you can try one of their 1/2 hour massages for $35 (face & head, foot massage, traditional thai).
Personally I prefer the oil massage at $69, can't beat a great relaxing oil massage.
Clean facilities and staff were lovely and professional.
Totally recommend it and looking forward to trying the body scrub/massage soon.

Scubathlon

Della at Scubathlon is a great instructor who will make sure you master every skill necessary to conduct a safe dive before she gives you a certificate. I think she's the only instructor in Sydney who demands that her open water student perform mask clearing and other basic skill in neutral buoyancy!! The shop is very cozy and welcoming. It doesn't even feel like a shop, more like a dive lounge with comfy sofa and TV! :)

Amelia Kates

Reviewed By Paul C - Benidorm, Spain

Amelia Kates is a most beautifully restored 19th century Australian house that houses a patchwork shop along with Australian made crafty gifts, quilting classes, haberdashery and a wool shop. All the staff are so friendly and helpful.
The owners also serve high tea every morning and afternoon. all set out on the very best China. The finger sandwiches were tasty as were the tiny cheesy scones. The lemon tart filled my mouth with zing while the miniature fairy cake just melted like a dream. A lovely place to spend a couple of hours.

OK. It seems Kogarah, where this statue is displayed, has partnership with some city in China where Bruce Lee was born (?). What did the Chinese get in return? A statue of Kogarah's claim to fame, Clive James?

Atmosphere is way too busy for my liking. Hard to relax- bright lights and a nervous kind of tension in the air and beauticians push expensive products on you at the end of the visit.
Great beauticians - good at their job but very expensive - but not my cup of tea.

Jubilee Oval

Reviewed By Don P - Ashland, Massachusetts

If you are in Australia and have some free time, take in one of the many National Rugby League games played throughout the country. Last evening I visited Jubilee Oval located in Kogarath, NSW (Sydney suburb) and watched the St. George Dragons run over the Penrith Panthers. You don't really have to understand the sport to appreciate the event. Thoroughly enjoyed the evening. Ausie fans are passionate about sports. General admission tickets were $30 AUS. ($23 US).
