This place is apparently very popular amongst locals. We visited it because it's inscribed as a UNESCO world heritage site "Royal par force hunting grounds". This one includes a small castle, a golf course and deer heard roaming around freely. It was a lovely sunny afternoon and it made for a beautiful walk. Wonderful place, we really enjoyed it. Arrived by car, had no problems parking.

The oldest amusement park in the world. Easily accessible by train (and walking distance from the Klampenborg train station). Free admission and then buy tickets for just the rides you want to experience. Go during the daytime and see countless families with young children enjoying the rides. It really is a kids wonderland, but there are rides for any age level. Lots of restaurants, games of chance to win stuffed toys, etc. From and American perspective, its like a County Fair, Atlantic City boardwalk, and 6 Flags, all in one, just on a smaller scale. We're grandparents, without our kids or grandkids with us , and we loved it. Just seeing the joy on the faces of the children makes your day.

On a hilltop in Dyrehaven (The Deer Park) lies Christian VI’s Baroque masterpiece, the Hermitage Royal Hunting Lodge. The Hermitage, which was completed in 1736, was a place that the king would use as a place of respite after a strenuous hunt, and where he would entertain distinguished guests to a well-appointed lunch in a private and congenial setting.
This building, only just opened to the public after a long restoration, was used in the film A Royal Affair. The restoration is brilliant, bringing the building back to its heyday. We took a tour in Danish, having Danish companions, but the excellent guide helped us through as well. The building is only small, but the decoration on the formal floors is well worth seeing, as are the unusual devices for collection condensation on the insides of the top storey windows; we've never seen anything like this anywhere else. This is a must see, and we'd go again.

The beach was ok. There were some nice views. But the water is extremely cold. Danish people appear to swim it anyway which seems crazy. But it was nice looking.

Klampenborg Racecourse is a beauty among racecourses. Neighbouring The National Park "Dyrehaven", and the 400+ year old amusement establishment "Bakken" this natural grass racecourse is surrounded by huge old trees and its old Royal Grandstand. The 100+ year old saddle room is a rarity. There are also some very good racing there nearly every week from mid April to beginning of November. There is also a nice playground for the youngest visitors.

For anyone interested in Imperial European history, particularly Danish Russo relationships, this is a must.
Hvidore Slot was the fall get away for Dowager Empress Maria( nee Dagmar of Denmark)of Russia and her sister Queen Alexander of England. The trips stopped at the beginning of WWI. After the Russian Revolution Maria retired to here and was joined afterward by her sister Alexandra. They lived there until their deaths, Alexandra in 1925 and Maria in 1928. While it is now a conference center, I was free to walk the grounds and take pictures.
