We just happened to see this place on our way to North Cape, and stopped on the way back. We were so happy we did! It was worth every penny. We did the haunted mansion, which was 3 floors and I couldn't believe the amount of detail that was in there. We had babies with us, and they were okay (we were lucky). But aside from one blast of air, it wasn't super noisy in there. It's all mechanical, no people grabbing at you or anything. Then when you finish, you end up in a beautiful garden. Again, we couldn't believe the detail. Colourful flowers, ponds, Waterfalls, Castles. Then there's attractions such as mechanical fortune tellers, slides, Bridges to cross, etc. After that, there's a third area with a petting zoo, target shooting (0.50$), rides, and a 'train' ride which was on wheels, but we enjoyed it. All in all, we were really surprised at how great of an experience we had (both the adults and the kids). We'd go back for sure.

Anne of Green Gables Museum

Reviewed By PookyCake - Victoria, Canada

Continuing our “Anne of Green Gables Journey,” my partner and I stopped off at the Anne of Green Gables Museum after visiting the very informative LM Montgomery Birthplace. The two are only about a 10-minute drive apart, so it makes sense to visit both because they emphasize different aspects of LM Montgomery, her life and her Literary and cultural inspirations.
As I’ve mentioned elsewhere, the LM Montgomery Birthplace focuses much more on the person rather than on the Literary and fictitious ANNE creation. That is to say, you learn much more about Montgomery’s early life and family history. It is both sobering yet refreshing to wander through the small Victorian-era home that served as her birthplace. Combine the physical space with the oral histories provided by the people who work at the Birthplace and you get something of a solid picture and foundation of the authoress. In this way, the LM Montgomery Birthplace functions as a nice starting point and counterbalance to the ever popular “Anne of Green Gables Museum.”
While the Anne of Green Gables Museum does delve a little bit into LM Montgomery’s historical life (mentioning that she spent some time growing up here and even got married on the site in 1911), the focus is much more on the place and space as Literary inspiration. Built in 1872 by her aunt and uncle, Montgomery lovingly referred to this place as “the wonder castle of [her] childhood” and subsequently gave it the nickname “Silver Bush” exactly because it inspired that sense of awe and wonder in her imagination. In fact, the property on which this museum sits proved to be the impetus for several of her books and served as the setting for Anne’s “Lake of Shining Waters.” Fans of the ANNE series are sure to see aspects of the books – explicit and implicit – in and around the site.
Some have said that the museum is “too touristy,” but I’m not exactly sure what that means? The property is both historical and Literary and so is geared to fans of the authoress and her fiction – many of whom are tourists. After all, it is highly improbable that locals will repeatedly flock to the gift shop on site! That said, I do think this museum is a “must stop” for fans of LM Montgomery and the ANNE series; however, not before visiting Montgomery’s Birthplace a few minutes up the road!

I love playing at this little nine hole course...in the interest of speedy golf, I have played from all the the tee boxes and it really changes some of the holes up (shorter is not always better!). Staff are all friendly and easy to deal with and it truly feels like a family business. It has a lot more elevation in play than most other Island courses and offers a number of deals for the visitor like a weekly pass and convenient twilight hours and starts

I took my niece and her three children--ages 11, 8 and 5- on this carriage ride. We did the full hour ride and loved it. We traveled by the Lake of Shining Waters to the beach. It was beautiful and we got to spend 15 minutes walking the beach sand. The kids loved it. Our horse and carriage driver was experts. It was a not to be missed time.

Malpeque Bay Kayak Tours

Reviewed By AWHYNOT - Charlottetown, Canada

My teenage daughter has been wanting to try SUP's (stand up paddleboard) all summer so we finally booked a time and went. Owner Anne Murray was fantastic. She had such great stories and pep talks for the kids and was a wonderful instructor. After half an hour lesson we were on our own to explore the beautiful shoreline for the next hour or so. Be prepared for a workout if you haven't gone before but it's well worth it. Best time we had all summer, highly recommended.
There are also kayak and bicycle rentals and kayak and SUP tours.

Went with my parents, sister in law and three nephews (6,9,10). The kids loved looking at the uniforms, my parents the context history and my sister in law, the letters from soldiers during WWI and WWII. My brother has served in the military as a Peacekeeper so we may be more interested than most but this museum is a real gem. Better than most military museums. It is amazing what they can exhibit in such a small space. Well worth the time spent. Will go back again the next time I visit PEI. Thanks to the Legion for doing such a great job educating the public and honouring brave men and women.

We came here to see the Kensington Art Gallery, which is worth a visit, and has a nice variety of art by local artists, who take turns staffing it, and we visited this store as well. It has some beautiful gift ware, and, as a teddy bear collector, I was tempted several times to make a purchase.
