Viking World is the home of the Viking Ship Íslendingur (the Icelander). Built in 1996, Icelander is an exact replica of the famous Gokstad ship, a remarkable archaeological find of an almost completely intact Viking ship, excavated in Norway in 1882. Viking World is also a home of the Viking millennium exhibition produced by the Smithsonian Institution called Vikings: The North Atlantic Saga. This exhibition sheds light onto the Norse settlement and explorations of unknown lands. These two fine projects, both celebrate Iceland's central role in the discovery of North America a 1000 years ago by the Norse Vikings. They have now found a permanent home in Viking World, a spectacular modern building situated right by the Faxafloi bay in the town of Reykjanes, and can be easily spotted from the main road between the international airport and Reykjavík.
My husband and I stopped here on the way to the airport and spend an interesting 1,5 hours.
The main eyecatcher in this museum is the Islendingur ship, which is an exact copy of a Viking longboat that was excavated in Norway.
This ship has actually sailed to New York in 2000, to commemorate the journey that Leif Eiriksson made to the New World. There could be 70 men on board.
The rest of the museum has artifacts relating to Viking life, death and beliefs. All is well explained and interesting.
Upstairs there is a diorama dedicated to the Viking gods.
This museum is certainly worth a visit and can interest the young as well as the older ones. It is open from 7am till 6pm, and you can arrange a Viking breakfast here as well.

Named in 2012 as one of National Geographic's “25 Wonders of the World," Blue Lagoon has evolved from its infancy as a Reservoir of geothermal runoff into a world of geothermal wonder. The unique properties of its waters provide not only an enchanting lagoon experience, but also the patented, active ingredients in Blue Lagoon skin care: silica, algae, and minerals. Blue Lagoon is located in a sprawling, 800 year old lava field in the heart of the Reykjanes Peninsula – a UNESCO Geopark. Just 20 minutes from Keflavík International Airport and 50 minutes from Reykjavík, Blue Lagoon is simultaneously remote and easily accessible.
One of the highlights of our Iceland trip! Our 9 and 13 year old boys had a great time.
Service and staff are excellent (notably so, since the booking experience and cancellation policy suggested a less customer-friendly approach).
The only little crib is the limited food options. If you don’t want to spend $200 at the Lava restaurant, your only other option is the cafe with pre-made sandwiches, salads etc. Hot, reasonably priced food (think pizza, soup, burgers) would be great after you are done in the lagoon.

Just next to Keflavik Harbour, is a pathway leading here (closed if the sea is rough, as it is very close by).
This is an interesting amusement, where you can while away 15-30 minutes watching and listening to a sleeping, snoring and farting Giantess!
Everything is giant-sized and gives you something else to do.
Worth visiting with or without children.

Everyone who likes photography and nature in a relaxed way where each person can have enough time to take his photos and enjoy the beautiful Icelandic nature. One man’s company founded by the Icelandic photographer and traveler Rafn Sig-. Small groups in a BIG 4x4 Mitsubishi super jeep pickup truck. All kind of scheduled and unscheduled day tours. Looking forward to trawel with you
My experience with Islandsmyndir was great in all senses. Rafn knows the typical touristical places, of course, but he knows many other places, may be not included in the tourist guides but with an amazing beauty for nature photography lovers.
Rafn is not only a guide is a person with a friendly personality, proud about the beauty of his country and ready to share it with you. He takes care of all details making feeling you safe and relaxed to enjoy your trip.
Islandsmyndir tours is a very advisable experience for anyone wishing to visit the wonderful Iceland.

The Icelandic Museum of Rock 'n' Roll is a about the history of rock and pop music in Iceland. The story of rock and pop music in Iceland is covered from 1930 to date with the help of iPads, photographs, screens, projectors etc. Guests get handed an iPad upon arrival containing the Rock 'n' Roll app. The app enables guests to dive deeper into the story behind each artist and period mentioned in the museum and listen to the music. The museum features its very own sound lab where guests can try out an electric drum kit, guitar and bass guitars and guests can also sing their hearts out in a specially made karaoke booth and keep the recording. The museum is filled with memerobilia. Among items guests can find in the museum is a wooden sculpture of the Icelandic reggae band Hjalmar, vintage guitars and drumkits, a giant sized electric guitar, backstage access passes from the Sugarcubes and Of Monsters and Men, Emiliana Torrini's colorful dress from her 'Jungle Drum' music video and much more. The museum has it's own little cinema which features documentaries about Icelandic music all day long. There'a a café with locally brewed coffee and free wi-fi is available for all guests. The museum is not to be missed!
I visited the museum on July 17th, 2017 during my stay at the Base Hotel in Asbru,
The museum seemed very interesting, I never saw anything like that before.
I even tried playing the drums and the electric guitar (it's so heavy!!!). The museum proves the Icelanders are really musical people.
The only one point I was disapointed with: there is still no exhibition devoted to KALEO, the most famous Icelandic band at the moment.

Sudurnes Golf Course is one of the Links Golf Courses in Iceland placed by the sea side on the Reykjanes Peninsula less than 10 minutes drive from Keflavik International Airport. The course has a spectacular view to the Capital Reykjavik, the Mountains Esja and Akrafjall and the glacier Snæfellsjokull. This golf course is a challenge for all golfers at any level of handicap.
Nice view, good golfcourse and it took only 4 hours to play. Recomend to play there in late afternoon.

We were there in May 2017. Nice, peaceful area close to an Ice Cream store. This area is right in front of the ocean. There's maybe 2 picnic tables in that area. Some kids biking. It was just an accident that we got to this area. Me and my husband was looking for the Ice Cream store.
