LAVA Restaurant combines modern design with the wild spirit of Icelandic nature. Built into a stunning lava cliff, with views over the lagoon, it is an unforgettable setting for a relaxed lunch, a family dinner or a romantic evening meal.
What a perfect restaurant to end our Iceland trip! The food was delicious and the service was exceptional. We had a group of 14 and the staff was very accommodating. I would highly recommend the chefs tasting with the wine pairing. It was expensive but well worth it!

Stayed at the Northern Lights Inn and was looking for a local restaurant. Coach driver recommended Salthusid and was not disappointed. Had a fantastic meal - catch of the day which was Halibut which was superb. Very nice restaurant with excellent service. The owner of the restaurant even drove us back to the hotel after - what service ! In comparison to the incredibly expensive cost of everything this was reasonable. A two course meal with bottle of wine for two was 11k krona.
Well worth a visit.

small hidden gem - we came for lunch after seeing the crater. What a find. Amazing lobster soup and open-faced sandwiches (you serve yourself the soup.) Wonderful old nautical space with tons to look at while you savor the soup. The smoked salmon Sandwich was also particularly great. One of our top meals in Iceland. Oh and coffee and tea are included in the price.

Max's Restaurant & Lounge at the Northern Light Inn, is just 1 minute before the Blue Lagoon. We are open every day, serving contemporary Nordic cuisine sourced from the best of the the fjords and fields of Iceland. Max's and Northern Light Inn are 20 minutes from Keflavik International Airport KEF, 45 from Reykjavik, 3 hours from London, and less than 6 from New York. We hope to see you soon!
Visited Max’s after a visit to The Blue Lagoon. The service was very slow, ordered drinks that didn’t turn up until our mains arrived and after we had to ask for them. The food did make up for the very slow service though. The lamb...MoreThank you Samantha for your duly noted feedback and thoughtful review!

Recommended by my hotel (just opposite) and was happy to have taken the recommendation. Full of locals taking coffee/lunch. I had the fish, which in this fishing village is a must. It was excellent, served up beautifully. Very friendly staff and good value. I highly recommend. You enter via the small door to the little shopping mall, which isn't immediately obvious but really glad I went.

Brúin Restaurant is situated close by the harbor in Grindavík with lovely view of the ocean. We specialize in various fish dishes and seafood. But of course we also offer meat dishes, sandwiches and burgers. Brúin is a family friendly restaurant with special kids menu and a kids playing corner. Brúin welcomes groups and we have special groups menu and there are Seating availalbe for 135 guests.
Before I even ordered, I felt welcomed with warmth. We were offered the wifi password as soon as we sat down and given a magazine to flip through about the area. I ordered traditional fish stew here. The portion was large and it was so flavorful. My friend ordered the lobster soup and hers was also delicious! The gentleman who waited on us, I'm assuming was the owner, was so polite and kind. We ordered lattes and espresso after our meal, and we were pleasantly surprised with the size and chocolates that came with them. This establishment is truly service oriented and well priced for the food you receive. I felt cozy and relaxed, which is exactly what you're looking for on vacation.

Restaurant with Delivery and Takeout, sportsbar. Low prices, the number one place where locals come to. low price'd. Local Cod, fresh from the fishery every day.
We hired a four wheel drive from Hertz (only £60/day) and travelled to Grindavik, where the fishing fleet comes in. We saw a sign for fish and chips, but checked Google, and it sent us to the same restaurant. Glad it did, we had the freshest Atlantic Cod we've ever tasted. Very friendly staff and reasonable price. Hope to go back one day soon.

We are a family owned Bar & Grill, we love good food and great music. Freshly prepared seafood in classic Icelandic style. Our motto is "Eat fish and live long, Eat fish and love strong".
Whilst staying at the Northern Light Inn, we took a taxi to Grindavik and stumbled upon this restaurant. Whilst it's nothing special, it's a cute little place to pick up some decent food with no frills. The menu is reasonably priced and has plenty of crowd pleasing dishes.

We liked this place because it was relatively cheap for Icelandic prices. We had a burger and fries and fish and chips and both meals were good and plenty. The staff was nice and we could pick up some more stuff at the convenient store.

Our main thing is local fish. With a trace ability you can see online where and which ship caught fish you are enjoying in our tray or in our soup.
This ISSI (see photo) is not the stand they have in Grindavik - it is on a spit of land along the Keflavik - Reykjavik hiway next to a shopping center in Njardvik. When I visited in September 2017 it was a small trailer, but the guys told me they got permission to build a more permanent, all weather structure on that spot. I had stopped just to get a cold drink but the aroma of the frying fish was irresistible. Prices like for everything in Iceland are steep by American standards, but a meal at Issi is much cheaper than in a restaurant. And the Fish and Chips are the best I have had anywhere (in more than 30 countries where I have had that dish)...sorry England. DO visit Issi when in Iceland!
