Skye Weavers are a small weaving and sewing business based on the Hebridean Isle of Skye. On their bicycle pedal-powered loom they weave a variety of woollen products including scarves, blankets, throws and wraps. They also make tweed, which they sell as lengths and make up into garments, cushion covers, bags and accessories. Check the opening hours on the website, if you would like to watch the weavers at work and have a browse through the shop.
One doesn't know what to expect as the sign leads you off the main road, into the scrub on a dirt road. It's definitely worth it. The work shop is a gem and the owner shows you everything and you can even try it yourself....MoreThanks for persevering with the detour and coming to visit us off the beaten track. Glas you liked it!

Any visit to the Isle of Skye is incomplete without enjoying the wealth of history and clan legend at 5* Dunvegan Castle & Gardens. Built on a rocky outcrop on the shores of Loch Dunvegan, Dunvegan is the oldest continuously inhabited castle in Scotland and has been the ancestral home of the Chiefs of Clan MacLeod for 800 years. Award winning Gardens, seal boat trips, cafe, gift shops and holiday cottages. For more information about our opening times, admission prices, speical events and Exhibitions, please visit our website.
Worth the drive. Interesting exhibit and several exterior Gardens are breathtaking. Loved it. It closed earlier than expected. No entry past 5:00. We had to rush through and would've enjoyed strolling outside longer.

Neist Point is a spectacular place with spectacular views. We were very lucky the day we went there: the weather was beatiful, blue sky, sunny, it was a dreamy experience.
In fact, just like Kilt Rock, this is a view point only, there is nothing much to do except walking to the edge of the cliff where the lighthouse is. However, that requires at least 1 hour and unfortunately we had very limited time and had to spend only 20 minutes there. I wish we had enough time, it was a real pity not to be able to walk to the lighthouse.
So make sure you have enough time at Neist Point when you make your plans. Don't expect any touristic infrastructure here such as written information, WC, souvenir or coffee kiosks. It's just nature here but definitely an overwhelming one....

We hadn't planned on see this during our visit. We saw the buildings and had to stop. You felt like you had stepped back in time( except for all the tourists). The only thing missing would have been little kids playing outside. Great place to get some history.

Visitor Attraction in a beautiful location on the Waternish peninsular, Isle of Skye. We are the only working traditional tannery in Scotland and offer a tour of our workshop to see how we produce our superb quality sheepskin rugs, and hear the story of leather. Our showroom has a wide range of sheepskin rugs, products, designer knitwear, and clothing items. Accredited 5* by VisitScotland. Open 7 days per week all year round.
Visited Skyeskyns twice during our stay on Skye and bought items on both occasions, the final haul was three different skins, some care items, a woollen 'Beanie Hat' and some sheepskin insoles. Had heard negative comments about both the pricing and marketing strategy of Skyeskyns...MoreMany thanks for your kind words and sorry to hear that you heard some negative feedback. Not something that we are aware of unfortunately :(

If you are well read on the Jacobite Rebellion and the role of Flora MacDonald in helping Bonnie Prince Charles to escape the grasp of the Duke of Cumberland after the battle of Culloden, you will want to visit this site. It is a fairly easy walk from the Island Life Museum nearby. There is no fee to visit.

This was a cute little brewery and shop. My friend bought beer to bring with on our tour and I bought a hat. The employees were really friendly and my friend enjoyed the beer. Stop by if you're in the area!

Working textile studio, where I design and make bags, accessories, cushions etc using "HARRIS TWEED".
Maxine's studio is filled with bags and other things (scarves etc) that she has designed and made from Harris tweed. The bags are lined in equally beautiful fabrics such as colourful batik print cotton. You can meet Maxine, watch her at work and even commission your own one off bag. A lovely, friendly lady producing stunning bags.

The original jewelry from Skye. Visit our one-of-a-kind gift shop in the dramatic NW of Skye where we have been designing original jewelry for 35 years. We have the largest range of own-design jewelry on the island. Celtic, Scottish and modern designs in silver and gold obtainable nowhere else. Skye Silver - "where memories are made".
Sometimes when you visit a craft workshop you are disappointed by the quality of the products offered, but that is certainly not the case here - the jewellery is not only stylish but exceptionally well designed and executed. This is one of the best such places I remember visiting and I definitely recommend it.

Apart from the beautiful setting it's great fishing at River Snizort. I spent the afternoon fishing with Ian and a friend visiting from abroad who was a novice to fly fishing. Despite the weather we had a wonderful afternoon. I have been on several other fishing trips with Ian and apart from a perfect and patient fishing instructor he is also a tremendous history buff and enjoys talking about almost everything Scottish in between one cast and the next. He's also the author of '56 Walks to the Best Viewpoints on Skye', which is a great source if apart from fishing you're also interested in walking and hiking on Skye. I couldn't recommend Ian enough for an extremely pleasant day of fishing on Skye!
