Banjarmasin (also known as Bandjermasin or Bandjarmasin, Chinese: 馬辰; pinyin: Mǎ chén) is the capital of South Kalimantan, Indonesia. It is located on a delta island near the junction of the Barito and Martapura rivers. As a result, Banjarmasin is sometimes called the "River City". The market was fine but there was little there as it seems to be a very small market for only tourists, no real trade there, so it does not seem to be that authentic - Would not really recommend it to others.

The largest mosque in Banjarmasin with the largest green area. You will enjoy religious travel alongside the waterfront adventure. Better visit it during Ramadan Festival, where you can enjoy traditional culinary.

If you want to go for a trip on Meratus Mountains, Loksado is a good spot where to stay and organise your trip. Consider please, there is no wi fi in Loksado, nor 3G, so maybe you'd better organise everthing a little bit in advance. Amat ( +62 (0)813 48766573, is the tourist guides coordinator in Loksado, we strongly recommend him. Usually you need to call him before arriving. He can satisfy all requests. He can book the Mount Meratus Resort or any kind of Homestay in Loksado for you. He can find a guide for your trekking, for your bamboo rafting, for visiting Dayak villages and overnight there if you like, for tha buffaloes trip...We did all these things with him and it was a real pleasure. His prices are much more affordable of any other tour operator or guides you could find in internet from your country or from Banjarmasin. Strongly recommended!

Siring Tendean is a riverside area which lately has been developed seriously by lical goverment. As most famous cities in the world with a river across within, this must be a spot that must not have been missed when you visit Banjarmasin. There is Bekantan statue facing the river(nasalis larvatus), the iconic animal of South Kalimantan, best viewed if you take a boat (klotok ride, costly IDR 5000) along the river. Also there are Watch Tower that is built in 4 floor and we can go up for free, and the floating market starting saturday afternoon to monday morning. Various stuff and food are sold that we can surely try the local tastes

The endangered proboscis monkey being selected as the icon of Banjarmasin is a positive step for the official appreciation of one of the most remarkable and characteristic endemic species living here on the island of Borneo. The location is on one of the major waterways which have earned this city title of Venice of the East. Now the city administration have cleaned up the river sides and created relaxation spaces for locals and visitors, which is bringing life to these areas. An evening stroll along the riversides with local people, relaxing, playing, snacking and socialising is not to be missed if you want an experience of the real people and colour of Banjarmasin.

Mall which centrally located between two major hotels in Banjarmasin, and one smaller hotel. Got a book store, a shopping mart, fun center for kids, coffee shop, branded food chain store, fashion stores, ATMs, movie studios, err. so its basically a mall with all its complete facilities for travelers or locals in Banjarmasin :)

just come over after trip from Kuin floating market. a tip for having fun just have a local guide and tipping her/him with Rp 50.000 will be enough. The guide will take care of you from some bad monkeys. Buy some peanuts or banana to feed the monkeys is one memorable experience. Even you will have those monkeys on your shoulder but as long as your guide near you, the monkeys will be calm.

Great Beaches, but unfortunate very very dirty. Visitors in the area just throw garbage like there's no tomorrow. Very sad. Also, this beach doesn't seem to have a good master plan, with cheap accommodations just popping with no coordinating with each other. And it's interesting trip to get there, going thru Palm oil plantations. Might not go back to this area, unless they improve the way they manage the beach.

This is not really a tourist attraction but visitors are welcome. Just make sure you dress appropriately, show proper respect (ie, dress modestly, take off your shoes, be sensitive of people praying) etc. It is a very beautiful, historically significant building made from ulin (iron wood) dating from 1777. It is located in the old part of Banjarmasin which is also interesting to look around. Not far from there is the old timber milling village which is probably where the timber for the mosque came from originally. There is no signage for tourists but there is a wikipedia article that details something of the history. Our driver also knew a bit being from the local area. It is a very peaceful place and it is nice to walk in barefoot on the timber floors that have been worn smooth by many feet over several centuries. There is a box where you can make donations.
