Impressive building with cool interior. Great place to visit on a hot day. Lots of Spanish sacristy silver ware. Quit place for reflection.

One of the most significant Churches in Gran Canaria, the Basilica sits on La Virgen del Pino Plaza and makes an impressive and picturesque impression as you approach along Calle Real.
It was constructed in the eighteenth Century, although there have been Churches on the site for hundreds of years.
I visited mid-morning and, although not busy with visitors, there were several locals quietly praying.

Pleasingly clean despite its city location, if you do not feel uncomfortable to sunbathe close to others and have close to restaurants, cafes, and more this is a nice alternative for the sun worshiper.A paradise for charter tourists, lined with relatively ugly buildings without major architectural beauty.

I spent a day in Arucas and travelled by bus from Las Palmas. I loved the tour of the distillery even though there was no sugar cane being processed. The tasting of all the rums at the end was great fun and prices very reasonable, I’m glad I didn’t drive there

we didn't get the best of this area but I think that was as we went during the day . It consists of a number of narrow streets with numerous shops / bars and restaurants . Which I think would have a much better vibe at night . Las palmas is a busy working port town which also caters for cruise ships visiting gran canaria so there is a real mix . This area has the museums / Cathedral etc which are nice without being outstanding ..

During a two-week holiday in Gran Canaria, my wife and Las Hesperides Tropical Garden just outside Arucas in the north of the island.
The entry fee was Euro 6pp which seemed very reasonable until compared to the free Jardin Botanico Canario Viera y Clavijo near Las Palmas and the extensive Cactualdea cactus garden near La Aldea.
The Gardens contain a huge variety of different trees and plants, some of which I had not seen elsewhere in Gran Canaria.
Worth a visit if you are near Arucas.

Just north of the Las Canteras beach this beach is worth a definite visit. You'll like the fact that you're not around a ton of other tourists and when the tide is up the water is perfect! Must go see this area!

We strolled through this park on our way from the tourist office to the rum distillery. Nicely maintained and some wonderful dragon trees. It is not a huge park so you can do this in less than 10 minutes before arriving at the rum distillery then take the high road back to the pedestrian centre of the town.

This unique garden erected on the side of a ravine has examples of every kind of vegetation found on the Canaries.
During a two-week holiday in Gran Canaria, my wife and I visited the Jardin Botanico Canario Viera y Clavijo near Las Palmas. There are several entrances and we parked at the first one we came to (using out satnav). This may have been a mistake, as it led to a car park at the top of the Gardens, necessitating a walk down the side of the steep canyon into the main garden at the bottom (and hence a walk back up again later). On our departure, we saw more signs pointing downhill, leading to other car parks at the bottom of the canyon.
To our surprise entry is free, which makes this a really good deal considering how extensive and good these Gardens are. There is a huge variety of plants, from palms to cactus to the famous Dragon trees (Drago). There are numerous paths that zig-zag around the Gardens and it is worth getting a map off the Internet before you visit, so that you can get the full benefit of all the various areas of the Gardens. Allow a couple of hours to look around.
Definitely worth a visit.

my brother invited us these Saturday in the park, and I can say I enjoyed a lot there: the personal was very friendly, the installation very secure, and the food very good. If you like to make sport on your holidays, I recommend you grancaventura: you will have a lot of fun there. Next year I will repeat!
