Wandered into the main square of Soest to find a great restaurant/pub with great staff!
We asked for some traditional German meals without using the menu, where we were quickly served a variety of meats, steaks and sides that were happily polished off! The beer flowed with the food and the staff could not do enough for us, also taking an interest in where we were from and where we were going.
For the amount we ate and drank between seven of us, the bill was very, very reasonable. Traditional feel and traditional food which is exactly what we wanted. Would definitely return if in Soest again!

The only Soester brewery When the Peace of Westphalia riders after the 30 year war between Munster and Osnabruck were traveling, as the half-timbered building of Renaissance beamed even from a quiet comfort. That has not changed in the last 400 years. From the old bakery next to the church has become a brewery, where the life between old oak beams and copper copper kettles shows at its best: fresh home-brewed beer, grandma's bed, creaky Wooden floorboards and a lot of nice people. Where do you feel most comfortable? The cozy bar on the ground floor, where the delicious aroma of hops and malt in the air? Or the creaking stairs to dining groups from the good old days, each of which is different? Perhaps in the light-flooded winter garden with space for larger groups or, weather permitting on a secluded spot outdoors? Only when you have all tried once, you will know it - but in a sophisticated atmosphere, with many antiques and changing little extras you will discover something new anyway.
We arrived at a very busy time, but were lucky to get a table, under the condition we'd leave before the reservation time of the next party who booked the table.
Service was fast, food was plenty and good. We'd definitely return if we're in Soest again!

We love this place and according to the many other guests and the recent expansion, so do the locals. Simple rich food (schnitzels), tasty beer, loveley desserts. You can't go wrong.

We found this place on our way to visit the city. Among other choices we decided to go for this and it was indeed a very good one. The place is lovely and well decorated. It looks like you're having lunch or dinner in your grandma's house. The service was almost perfect and the food was good with a delicious soup and even more delicious main courses. For lunch you can also have a cheap menu for something more than ten euros per person. We would definitely come back again!!

We had reserved a table for a special occasion with some German friends. When we arrived we were led to a beautifully decorated table with a five-armed chandelier, vine-leaves, artfully folded napkins and other decorative touches. The staff was well-trained and showed a genuine, natural friendliness. The food arrived perfectly timed for all seven of us. We all had different meals, but they were all of the highest quality and the presentation was also excellent. As far as presentation is concerned, I think German restaurants in general have come a long way in recent years, and now that Germany has finally caught up to the rest of the world in the smoking issue we had a top-notch dining experience at the Ratskeller St. Georg.

Great restaurant with a nice Beergarden located in the heart of Soest. They have got some veggie dishes on the menue but also a lot veggienisable ones as well. I had pretty good Taleggio stuffed ravioli with pesto. Good food, nice place, I'll come back!

This was a great take on classic German dishes. Food was beautifully prepared and presented. We were a group of 5 and everyone enjoyed their meal without exception.
Staff were super friendly and helpful - even to the uneducated English!! Thank goodness.
If you want somewhere that feels a bit special, this is definitely the best place in Soest for that.

First, and most important, the food here is not bad at all. We went there on an early evening, as did a number of other people (it is the sort of place where you are better off, having booked a table in advance). Mongolei City does become rather crowded (which I imagine is a sign of quality) and also noisy.
My feeling is that most visitors do opt for the buffet, which at the moment weighs in at 14,90 Euro per adult. The restaurant offers dishes from all over Asia, most of them already cooked, but also with the possibility of having various fish and meat (among them "Mongolian" kangaroo(!), frog legs and ostrich) cooked while you wait.
The staff is always friendly and you can literally "eat until you drop. Good value for money, especially if you are a big eater!

My partner and I been for drinks several times over the last few months. The location is lovely - right in the middle of the historic city centre. The staff are great, very professional. The restaurant itself is beautiful and well-decorated. I've not been for dinner yet but my partner (who is a chef) has and says the food is amazing, very high quality and really good value for money. I'm looking forward to our next visit.
