Catharina's Restaurant at Steenberg pays homage to the woman who started it all and found Steenberg in the 17th century. Taking a leaf from Catharina's adventurous book, this restaurant serves up contemporary comfort food, making guests feel welcomed as they revel in the abundance of fresh produce, cooked simply and presented beautifully. With an eye on creating a "Contemporary Heritage", Catharina's embraces the past but keeps evolving with the current to maintain a fresh and innovative attitude. The menu centres on simplicity, and lets the finest quality ingredients do all the talking. The "contemporary heritage" dictum comes to life in the décor of Catharina's Restaurant, as hints of Catharina's thrilling life weave themselves into a visual narrative - a treat for the eyes as well as the stomach. Comprising of over 100 carefully selected South African wines and a small but relevant international offering, the award-winning wine list at Catharina's restaurant offers choice to the connoisseur and casual sipper alike. Catharina's has been awarded the American Express Platinum Award for Fine Dining, and the Diner's Club Winelist Award - Diamond Awards.
We enjoyed our meal at this fine dining restaurant on the Steenberg estate. Our welcome was warm and our service polite, efficient and most helpful. My braised lamb ravioli was quite delicious. Equally, my main chicken dish was delightful, tasty and moist. Our other main was line fish with a risotto. My wife left her risotto as she commented that it was the worst risotto ever. My wife felt the risotto was very glutinous and stodgy. Our desserts were very nice. My wife enjoyed a strawberry based dessert. We lived the estates Pink based Pinot MCC and enjoyed a bottle of estate Sauvignon Blanc with our main meal. Overall, a very nice evening with lovely, courteous service and a very good meal with the exception of the risotto, which we chose not to complain about to the maitre.

We had an early dinner with 4 adults and 2 children. Very peaceful and quiet outdoor table with excellent service. Kids had the hamburgers and adults a variety of tortilla and flat breads. All very tasty with a good bottle of Durbanville Hills SB. This place always delivers.

La Colombe, one of Cape Town's most well-loved and awarded restaurants. Contemporary French-meets-Asian fine dining.
Not surprising La Colombe features in lists of the world's top restaurants. The set lunch menu is indeed a performance: as the chef says:"food is our theatre". And all this in a lovely setting overlooking the wooded hillside and vines. Predictably excellent staff, exquisite tastes in each of the numerous courses, delicious wines.

Harbour House Restaurant is located in the heart of an old working fishing harbour.Come and experience fine dining as the waves splash up against the windows while you enjoy the freshest seafood and line fish caught from our own boat.Window tables are a must so Reservations are essential!
This is our 5th holiday to SA, and we have eaten at a number of fabulous restaurants over the years. This ranks as one of the poorest dining experiences we have had to date. We booked months in advance and were seated away from the main dining area and felt completely away from it all. There was no atmosphere at all. The menu promised well, my Sushi starter was great, but the Yellowtail main was really disappointing and was set on an oversized bed of garlic mash, with a few green beans and a little rocket, the mash was way too heavy and boring (I felt like I could have knocked the dish up at home). My husband chose a prime cut fillet of beef, it was massively salted and we have absolutely no idea what prime cut this was, the mushroom mousse was tasteless, cannot really comment further. We came away feeling we could prepare better food ourselves. Maybe we chose badly, but we felt this establishment is probably benefiting from its location and past reputation. Sorry to feel so disappointed.

A favourite of locals and tourists, come and enjoy a meal or buy something from the bakery shop
The service and the kindness of the waiters was absolutely perfect.
Helpful, fun, apparently some of them have been working there for over 15 years....which tells they are happy doing what they do and call it a life style.
The food was absolutely delicious and i can highly recommend the oysters and mossels for sea food lovers.
The jazz was at the back where the actual baking happens.
The smell of bread and pastries is present.
You can buy bottles of wine and take them with you whilst seated.
The sound was good.
It was a great great experience !
Bravo Olympia and well done to the promoter.

Buitenverwachting offers a elegantly casual dining experience, with design and menu reflecting the authentic character of the wine estate. A new wine library was established for pre-dinner drinks and tasting experience of rare and vintage wines.
We dined at this rather lovely restaurant after visiting the winery and vineyard. This restaurant is situated in one of Buitenverwachting's beautiful and original thatch buildings and forms part of the wonderful complex of the wine estate. This restaurant is in a stunning location with views to die for and after dining here, the food that we had was of a good quality as everything was beautifully seasoned to ensure rather fresh, natural tasting food. The ingredients used for the dishes were so fresh and natural that it gave an extra added natural flavours to the overall texture of the dishes. The usage of the herbs and spices was perfected rightly to ensure a finely balanced taste and flavours of the dishes. The service at this restaurant was fine with nice, friendly waiting staff, while the wines accompanying our meals, especially the reds, were fantastic and of the highest quality. Overall this was a great dining experience with good food, good service, fantastic wines in a relaxed and comfortable environment in such a beautiful and tranquil settings. We left extremely satisfied and happy to have dined here.

At the Foodbarn Restaurant, we serve the food that Franck is famous for … delicious and decadent ‘fine-dining’ style food but in a super relaxed and characterful old barn.At the Deli during the day, you are invited into our ‘home-from-home’ by the tantalizing aroma’s of the fresh bread and the best coffee in the Valley, the uber friendly and caring service, chef Joccelyn’s delicious creations, and more.At night the Deli is transformed into a delightful tapas bar serving inspired dishes with amazing textures and flavours.Whichever Foodbarn you are in … we look forward to spoiling you
What a gem! The French-born chef certainly knows how to serve up a good lunch. Without doubt this is the best eating experience in Cape Town. It serves classic French-style food without all the gimmicks currently conjured up by some of the other top restaurants in the city and surrounding area. It is pleasantly situated in a farmstead setting and firmly focused on giving the diner an exquisite experience. As a top end restaurant it is also reasonably priced. We prefer lunch so that we can take in the ambience of the little village but we have also been there for dinner, which was equally memorable. Everything was cooked to perfection and the wines were very palatable. Encroyable, as the French would say.

Spiro's in Hout Bay is the ideal restaurant if you're looking for traditional, authentic Greek food made with love and care. There are al fresco dining areas on the patio in front of the restaurant and in the paved, enclosed courtyard with bar.
Needed a well deserved evening out with good food and music, tried other places and ended up at Spiro's , could not have asked for a better evening , we opted for a variety of starters , this was rather tasty and plentiful , great...MoreHi Gerald Thank you for your review. We are incredibly happy that you had such a great time with us. Hope to have you back soon. Regards Spiro

Named after the year in which Steenberg was established, Bistro Sixteen82 first opened its doors in 2009, and has been the tapas and bistro-style Darling of the dining world ever since. An innovative and interactive wine and food destination, the Bistro sits adjacent to Steenberg’s winery, and spills into its surrounding indigenous Gardens with a terraced dining area leading to reflective water features, unfurling into views of the magnificent stone Mountains and expansive winelands. The Bistro Sixteen82 menu is a constant evolution, keeping up with seasonal produce and featuring inventive dishes that compliment the finest locally sourced ingredients. With Breakfast, Lunch and late-afternoon Tapas menus to choose from, the Bistro provides fine dining with an inimitable contemporary spirit. Executive Chef, Kerry Kilpin, love to create food which is seasonal, flavourful and bursts with freshness. "My greatest inspirations are derived from significant occasions in my life. On my travels to Thailand I developed a love and passion for Asian food. From shopping at the local food markets to creating my first authentic Thai dish, I was in heaven. You will notice a common thread in what I do and who I am. Love. I cook with love and my food is love." Internationally, Bistro Sixteen82 has been recognised in the list of 20 of the World’s Best Winery Restaurants by Canada’s renowned Wine Access magazine. Locally, listings included prominent mentions in Fleur du Cap’s Top 100 Places; Eat in Cape Town; and EAT OUT’s Best Bistros list.
Firstly the wine tasting, well organised, knowledgeable, friendly staff and fabulous wine. The Capensis chardonnay is great, I don't drink much white wine but we visited a second time just for this wine. The setting is beautiful, modern and relaxing.
The bistro -1682 was very good, popular and trendy. We had the chef's choice as we wanted to try something different, all were tasty and well delivered. A good place to visit to enjoy good wine and food in a lovely setting.
