businness Dinner with colleagues from different countries, including Germany of course, local easy to reach on foot but with parking nearby, local nice and clean, very helpful and accurate personnel, all of us ate onlylocal meals and specialties and all were satisfied, only slight problem only one menu available in English .... we also drank well and even the desserts were good. I would say also good value for money. Certainly we recommend a visit if you find yourself in this city

We had two attempts to had lunch at Bach Mayer. First time we went there, it was gorgeous afternoon, with clear blue sky, but it rained in the morning. These guys have lovely garden, so naturally, we wanted to eat outside. We kindly asked if we could be seated in the garden, the answer was NO!! We were really upset, and the hostess showed us indoors instead, which was horrible - we could sense cigarette smoke, and air inside was really horrible, so we left. In few weeks, we were there again, and came over for too. It was a lovely day, with bunch of Sunshine in the morning. They did serve in the garden. I kindly asked hostess if we could get a place in the shadow, which they had a few! But she said they all are reserved. I mentioned that we will not stay long, max 30 min. Oh well, we got seated in semi shadow, and during our whole presence, most of the tables in shadow remained unoccupied... Fazit smoky lounge, lazy personal refusing to serve few meters further away from the kitchen :( Garden was useless on a sunny day...

I visited this reastaurant on a business trip. The restaurant is in a small village about 30 minutes drive from Mannheim. They serve regional and international food. The regional foor is an aquired taste and the international foor is nothing special, but good. Prices are ok.

The restaurant's name is the "Weinrefugium" in one word. They have a web site, but it's only in German, however, the owner and staff speak excellent English. We really enjoyed this restaurant. The food was upscale, the selection was good, and the dishes overall were excellent. We had a nice green salad, spaghetti with seafood, a delightful warm octopus salad, and a nice fish dish (nobody could name the fish in English) with bacon, potato and a Riesling sauce. Everything was excellent and we would gladly return again.

We had the flamekuchen, some cheese and lentils with sausage. It was really really nice. Service was good and we enjoyed the well cooked food. One down side was some of their wines. Maybe we chose wrongly, but here we tasted why a lot of people are stating that german wine is crab. And most people hopefully know that you can find a lot of excellent wine in Germany

In had lunch in the garden of the big barrel. The atmosphere was nice, but with some traffic noise from the nearby road. I tried the large pork schnitzel with potato salad. It came with two large schnitzels, thus next time the small one will be enough. There is parking just outside. The barrel is impressive from the outside, but not that cozy from the inside.

I had one of the Pfälzer specialities which is their house speciality, the Römer Teller, consisting of a sausage, a liver dumpling and a slice of stuffed sow's stomach (doesn't sound particularly appetising but it was the best part of the dish), all this served with proper bread, mustard and Riesling sauerkraut. It was very tasty and at Euro 12.50 terrific value. I also had an excellent Riesling wine. I'll certainly visit this place again when I'm in the area.

Excellent restaurant.
Booked a surprise 60th birthday meal for eight people, had decorations and cake delivered to hotel who dressed the table and wall.
Fantastic service and food. Both German and English tastes were accommodated.
Reasonably priced. Wine X 4. Beer X 6. Starters X 5 and 8 main courses 212 euros.
Spotlessly clean eating area and toilets, easy to park passing through lovely villages.
Would highly recommend.
