Well, maybe it was the weather, but I was not very impressed by this. Yes, it was quite windy, but not just a remote ecco was achievable.

Bison [BAJsön], American bison. – Danes say [BIsôn].
Buffalo [BAFfölöu], any bison-like animal, e.g. Water buffalo, Cape buffalo.
Wisent [VIsènt], European bison. – Bisons weigh up to 1.000 kg, and wisents weigh 800-900 kg.
Driving Directions.
In Almindingen [ALménéngön], on the Rönne-Svaneke road, you locate (King) Christian X's Vej:
From the eastern forest-entrance to Almindingen you drive only 800 meter toward Rönne [RÖNnö].
From the Âkirkeby [âKIRköby] road-connection in the middle of Almindingen you drive 2,9 km toward Svaneke [SVANnökö].
Then straight on south along Chr. X's Vej for 1,6 km (watch out for holes in the asphalt). Now you enter the 200 hectare Bison-Wood via a cattle grid (stock grid, cattle guard, vehicle pass, Texas gate, stock gap, cattle stop, Danish: färist). After 1,2 km you leave the Bison-Wood via another cattle grid, and you are on your own in a maze of secondary roads and byways south of Almindingen, leading wherever. – Enjoy.
200 Hectare – a Square of Area.
One hecto = 100 items of the following designation, exempli gratia: gram, are, liter, meter.
One are = 100 square meter = 10 x 10 meter.
One hectare = 100 are = 10.000 square meter = 100 x 100 meter.
100 hectare = 1.000.000 square meter = 1.000 x 1.000 meter.
200 hectare = 2.000.000 square meter = 1.414 x 1.414 meter.
So, 200 hectare has a square side of nearly one and a half kilometer.
Actually, the bison (wisent) area is a trapezium: 1,0 km x 2,3 km x 0,5 km.
Number of Hits.
Every time my wife and I could find a reason to drive through Almindingen Forest we took the detour to see the bisons. Three times we were lucky to see them (or just one bison): Twice in the southern pasture, and once in the slightly open woodland (sparse undergrowth) near the northern cattle grid.
I can tell you this: The bisons in Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming are more concious of their popular appeal, showing off their one ton of sheer muscle-power. They are not camera-shy and pay only moderate regard to tourists.

Generally an OK interesting place, but the whole thing ruined by the cafe, where we after placing our order waited for 1 hour for two toast and a Sandwich. It was a rainy day and there were clearly more visitors than normally, however in july they should be prepared for this. Furthermore there were no tables to sit down and eat the dinner. Whatever good intensions we came with were hard to maintain after this.

Some believe that Nylars Church is the best preserved round church on Bornholm. Having only seen this and Nyker church, this certainly has the better frescoes on the central pillar. It is believed to have been built about 1165 and was dedicated to St. Nicholas (Nilaus in Danish.) The walls are so massive (2 meters thick) they are not reinforced with buttresses. There are two rune stones in the porch. The 13th Century frescoes on the central pillar are said to be the oldest on Bornholm. The font is of Gotland limestone. The belfry is a later and separate addition.

Not the most impressive selection of cars I've seen, but a lot of effort has been put into the presentation of the cars. The main focus seems to be the everyday cars of the Bornholmers from approx. the 1930s and up, including the danish Kewet EV.
The museum also exhitbits other old equipment, such as old TVs, radios, cameras, road signs, workshop equipment and toys.

It's a really beautiful church with a pretty graveyard. It's definitely worth seeing if you're in Aakirkeby. Well, you will certainly not miss it, as it dominates the town :)

We had a great trip around Almindingen, the central part of Bornholm. Most of the trip is within the forest, so bring some hot cloth even during summer. You'll sit on two rows behind the four horses in front. The guide will tell you a lot about the nature. Notice the trips start at "Rytterknægten", which is signposted along the Rønne-Østermarie road. It's really a nice Family event and something else to do in Bornholm.
