Welcome to The George & Dragon Inn, Sandwich. This property dates from 1446 and has been a licensed inn since 1552. It has undergone many changes since it was built, but from the day it was first licensed over four centuries ago the house has never closed. At present business partners Sarah Boxall and Stephen Wren have the pleasure of running this historical inn. They deliver an outstanding range of traditional food and drink with a modern twist that caters to the needs of every customer. Head Chef Aaron and his team (Marc and Dan) create a new adventurous evening menu every fortnight using as much local produce as possible. Sarah and Stephen have kept this little gem of a pub oozing with charm and character and will continue to do so during their custodianship.
It amazes me how a kitchen with zero affinity for fine food and its presentation can serve up such a poor meal and expect to get away with it! R.I.P, The G&D of old has gone.A malicious and false review from a Sandwich 'hater' for reasons only known by Frank L. The gentleman in question is known by my staff members and is no longer welcome at The George & Dragon Inn! Review reported to TripAdvisor.

Having just spent 5 hours on a train it just so happens that my accommodation for the night also does fantastic food and Leffe on draft. I have a fantastic dish of garlic mushrooms followed by first class fish and chips.

We visited at lunchtime. The food was nice and there was plenty of it. However, the whole experience was soured for us by the loud chatter and laughter of the bar staff who, clearly, were not busy. Their laughter was unnecessarily loud. There was a customer at the bar who was, I think, a member of staff as she went behind the bar a few times. The noise coming from the bar made it almost impossible for us chat ourselves. The upshot was, we did not have coffee but fled to the peace and quiet of home.
This is a shame because we have eaten here before, admittedly some months ago, and had a great time. I can only assume there are different staff there now. They should be told that the customer comes first and their chatter should either be toned down or they should wait until they are off duty.

Having had a windy, chilly two hour walk we popped in hoping for a pint and a little bite to eat. It was a busy Sunday lunchtime but we took the small table by the door, asking if we could get a Sandwich or something....MoreWe are pleased we were able to accomodate the three of you, and you enjoyed your impromptu visit Pam and Terry

In response to an earlier review, yes, these guys and girls cook spicy Thai food. What else could you expect from Thai people who speak Thai, cook in Thai; carve Thanet-grown swede into intricate Thai decorative flowers and presumably know their Thai prawn crackers from their Thai spicy duck? Its spicy and that's generally a good thing if you like spicy Thai food or simply wonder what can be done with a swede from Thanet. I recommend this restaurant and commend the pleasant and attentive service. Thank you My Thai; we will be back.

The upstars room in the No Name Deli
We had some food and it all tasted great but got worried after when we tried to buy some cheese as all of the cheese we looked at (some 10 packets of varied cheese) was past its sell by date and we are talking unpasteurised cheese here. We did tell the staff but they just said sorry, no one rushed to remove it from the display fridge. For us this made us worry about hygiene standards and we wouldn't eat there again or buy anything.

Brasserie on the Bay is located in the Bay of Sandwich. We pride ourselves on delivering quality both in the produce and the experience. We like the experience to be informal, relaxed and above all we take pride in what we do. The Brasserie has been awarded 2 AA Rosettes. There is disabled access and plently of complimentary parking at the front of the Brasserie. Those that want to make more of the visit, why not stay over and wake up to the views of the bay.....
The chef here is really creative making simple ingredients taste heavenly. Whether you are looking for a meal for two or family celebration you will enjoy the food here.Thank you for dining at the Brasserie and your kind review. I shall pass your comments onto Chef, he will be delighted as he prides himself on creating exciting menus from locally sourced produce. We hope to see you again soon.

Very Friendly place, dog friendly. The meals are mostly made on the premise. All cakes are also made on the premise, which includes Gluten, Dairy Free. We now take credit & debit cards. We also have an Alcohol Licences from 12pm every day. Private parties.
Popped into The Beach Hut Cafe for a late lunch around 14:00 on a Saturday. It has a very cosy atmosphere and welcoming service. There was a great selection of snacks and meals advertised on the menu and various chalk boards around the walls, there is a huge amount of choice. I must admit as I looked around at what others were eating ( I always do this to get an idea of what I might like) there were about eight people eating various dishes, and they all looked good. We ordered and the food arrived in a reasonable time and was nice and hot. We had Ham, egg and chips, sausage, egg and chips, and sausage, cheese and bean panini, all were very tasty. After we started eating a guy came in and ordered Eggs Benedict when it was delivered it looked great, must admit I was jealous. The staff were all very pleasant and welcoming. Will definitely go back.
