This restaurant. This food. This magical, magical place.
The journey to this restaurant has been four years in the making, after discovering the restaurant in its winter residence in Copenhagen.
We only found the restaurant by chance, as we journeyed to Copenhagen after many months of trying to secure a table at Noma
Back then, the restaurant was on the corner of the block and we still remember the main course which was cooked on the Green Egg BBQ outside (think great British menu style cuisine BBQ, not uncle bobs BBQ!)
Walking into that restaurant is still with us today, rows and rows of pickled, dried, preserved, vacuumed, salted and various other methods to keep ingredients intact, we thought - 'nice show piece', but we then discovered that the entire ingredients were transferred into Copenhagen for winter from the restaurants summer location on Bornholm.
We have been back the the Copenhagen restaurant three times, each time trying another two or three Michelin star restaurant during our stay. But Kadaeu remains our favourite of any Copenhagen restaurant. And probably the world.
So, this year we ventured to their summer location on Bornholm, a very complex logistical challenge for us (a family of five), but we new this trip would be special.
We had the customary three month in advance booking requirement, but we chose a random date and arranged our summer vacation around our one dinner reservation.
We happened to choose our reservation for mid-summers night, a special evening where the island set light to bonfires up and down the coastline, sing songs and toast to the summer.
So we sat in the restaurant, with food of sublime standing, loved ones at our side and songs of summer joy emanating through the air. To be so lucky to be in such an amazing place, with such amazing food with the people I love. We were both in tears of joy.
What a truly, truly magical place.
We will see you again soon.

Restaurant Le Port is an experience all year. You will get the best from the classic Danish and French kitchen served with the most beautiful sea view Bornholm can offer. In the summer you can enjoy the sunset and in the winter we keep it cosy indoors with a log in the fireplace.
It is a family resturant established since 1976, and has been relaunch and modernised. The food presentation is contemporary, light and delightful. Using seasonal produces. Price is reasonable 4-course DKK480 and 3-course DKK410, wine by the glass range from DKK75 to 95 and the serving...MoreThank you very much for the nice words, we are very pleased. We hope to see you back on Le Port another time and wish you and your family a great summertime. Best regards Gabriela - Le Port

A specialty is the tartellete - a generous "dish" made out of puff pastry and filled with the creamiest chicken and asparagus. The pork roast with cracklin' was moist and crunchy. Incredibly friendly staff. The restaurant is situated adjacent to the famous "Echo" valley.

Ribs were juicy and freshly made. We enjoyed it very much with potato wedges. The ribs were delicious and this is among the few restaurants that has ribs which are properly grilled (not like some where it's precooked and microwave). Well marinated and we'll cooked. I would come back for more if we stayed longer. Friendly and good service

We chose the 4 course lunch and wine menu, and were blessed with good weather sitting outside in the forest environment, magic. The meal was well spaced out and the portions were the right size, our favourites were Gran-herring– Sellery – Mustard, Porkfillet – corn – Chili – carrot, Turbot – Lobster-bisque. The service was excellent, but needs a bit more 'refinement' to reach a michelin star level, that the food deserves. All in all a highly recommended restaurant with some of the best value around. With the rising popularity it would be a good idea to have a menu in English.

A La Carte Restaurant, Also Open For Lunch With Sandwiches And Hot Dishes, Cozy Restaurant With Large Patio
We only ate pizzas there (but more than once;) and the pizzas very very good. The restaurant has a pleasant outdoor area, which is in my opinion better than the indoor space. Very friendly staff.

We were in the area and dropped into this cosy cafe off the main road. The cafe has many trinkets etc for sale, which although not to our liking, built a homely atmosphere which was perfect for us and the kids. They do coffee, cake, pancakes and a Sandwich (I think it was chicken/bacon/curry sauce) and local beers. We went for pancakes, coffee and cake, and the coffee was served in a personal percolator, with its own knitted beanie! Wouldn't come here for a full meal, but for a coffee and cake break whilst trekking around the island, it's a nice chilled place to be.
