Veachfront Villa was perfect. Room had enough space and bathroom was also big. SPA offers great massages and they are really good !
Food was also very good and beach is very nice. White sand and very clean.
There's a small Village close by with some shops and a few restaurants.
Staff was very friendly and helpful.

An old railway station converted to a Museum railway station.
Neat & clean place and good for young boys who can know the history of Railways in Kantang.
Old ticket counter, station master office , reservation center, old weighing machine etc are the few attraction of this place. You can take lots of picture in Love Garden also which is just adjacent to the station.

This is a nice beach with nice sand (just like Yong Ling Beach further up the coast), unlike many of the other Beaches on the Trang coastline which are littered with sea shells making it hard to walk. There's no restaurant but there are a couple of food stands selling some eats. The beach is easily accesible by car/scooter and is just around the corner from the Hat Yao Pier where you can catch a ferry or long tail boats to the island - making this a nice place to relax while you wait for the ferry service to Koh Mook which only runs at midday. There's also rather nice accommodation for 1000 Baht per nigh (some of the nicest accommodation we've seen in Thailand for this price and location).

The beach is surely beautiful to look at and offers much space to lay down and to swim. You can perfectly spend one ore two days here.
I didn't like the fact, that the atmosphere there is so much influenced (not to say tainted) by the resort and the restaurant. That's actually a shame. At first sight, the beach seems to be a private one for the resort's guests only. But it is accessible for all of Koh Mook's visitors, of course.
I prefered to spend my time at the beach near the pier, where there's more local people and where the atmosphere seems to be more authentical.

Great little museum in a great little town. Forget Trang. Come here instead. All in Thai though. Lots of pictures and a nice setting too.

I had never been on a railway journey in Thailand so I thought this trip to Katanga would be ideal as the Kantang station stop was the next and last stop on the line! The return tickets were so cheap considering the journey was going to be about 35 - 40 minutes. (10 baht !!)
There were not many on the train - mostly locals and some Malaysian tourists. The journey itself was lovely taking in the views of rural Trang.
Kantang Railway Station was very interesting with its little museum and preserved buildings with the the original wood designs. It is the oldest station in Thailand and was opened in 1913. The station has been painted mustard yellow lined in dark brown.
There is also an air conditioned coffee shop 'Love Station', where I purchased a lovely glass of iced tea for 45 baht.
There is a passenger train permanently exhibited, behind the normal tracks as seen from the station building. Also there are some excellent Western style toilets at the station and lots of little cafes close by.
As there was plenty of time until the return train, I decided to take a walk around Kantang itself. It's a non touristy town with lots of shops and food outlets. As the King had recently died , the Police station was decorated with lots of black and white ribbons. I also saw the Port gates but never ventured any further as I did not have time.
In the past, this port was used as the trading products depot with the neighboring countries such as Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia. Hence the importance of the railway to the port .
Kantang used to be the capital of Trang Province but due to flooding, the capital was moved inland to Trang.
The return journey on the train was quite busy but I managed to find an empty carriage so that I could enjoy the journey in peace. I saw a sign but I could not understand it. Later I realised the sign said for Monks only. However apparently it is OK to sit there if there are no monks on the train.
I was on my own but I felt very safe and it was lovely to get off the beaten track.

There is a lot of potencial. However, every time I return the situation is not getting better... For tourists it will be a good place if everything is in good condition. Seeing thos abandoned place will not help to get more tourist ( and locals).
I enjoyed the private huts with a very relaxing bath, but that was a while ago.
This time I had fun, only because we went with familymembers.

Phraya Ratsadanu Pradit Mahisorn Phakdi Museum is not only a museum but also botanical garden. It's a heaven for those who like trees.
